Women who keep their married name YEARS after the divorce.

Why open them? I am sure you recognise a card in an envelope?
You have a tree so you are not against Christmas as such- only cards.
Other people like cards as part of Christmas so let them indulge their choice.
You do know trees have precisely nothing to do with Christmas, don't you?
People clearly are "indulging their choice" WRT sending cards, and we indulge ours by binning them straight away.

Probably wants to see if there's any money in them. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
A) nobody I know is stupid enough to send cash in the post andany cheques would no doubt be incorrectly named, so no. Nothing to do with money.
I was wondering that too
Time together as a family, the passing of another year, the solstice, DH's birthday and remembering a family member that died at Xmas. That okay by you? (It matters not one jot whether it is or isn't, by the way.)

What are you celebrating during your midwinter festival? Do you recognise it in particular for something? Eg, the food on your table? The feast before the deep winter?
The same as pretty much everybody else, a day of celebration that is traditional in my culture at the darkest most miserable time of year with good food and drink, and my loved ones. Why?0 -

but his birthday cards will be addressed to just him not you so why open ones with both of you addressed ??

(Tight) family members often send his birthday card inside a Xmas card addressed to both of us, for one. I also wouldn't know who the [STRIKE]idiots[/STRIKE] festive wellwishers are that are seemingly incapable of addressing me by my actual name!Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

I shake them, see if a card inside rattles.. plus you can tell by the weight of them. Though mine have to be opened in case they are not a birthday and Christmas but several Christmas cards.. clusters of family members send cards together too.. such as one from aunt and uncle, one from my cousin.. for the children.. I think we got 6 cards in such a way last year!
I get cards addressed to 'The Waltons' 'The Clan' and 'The Horde' haha.. none of which are any of our names!
I've not had a birthday card for years now though but it did take 14 years to stop itLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

I'm starting to feel really paranoid about writing my cards. I heard a story yesterday about a child who was upset because the non blood relative (auntie instead of uncle) had written the tag on his birthday present. - thankfully my family are just grateful recipients.
I put birthday cards inside christmas cards too..
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0 -
I think some people are just too hard to know. Life is too short to take offence at every little thing. Who knew that there are those out there who really care if one envelope is utilised for two cards going to the same place at the same time? First world problems.0

Totally agree Andy. After all, we are on a money saving site, and putting both cards into one envelope makes sense.
There really are much more important things to worry about. Some people just sound bitter and uptight.0 -
Except that for a Christmas born person, who will have had their birthday clouded by Xmas their whole life, it's another annoyance. (Speaking for DH.)Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0
