Sold something for peanuts by mistake

Yes I think you've done the right thing by getting in touch with the buyer and being upfront about it. Exactly the same happened to me once and the customer was very understanding about it...hope yours is too!
Thank you, I haven't heard back from them yet, so I can only presume that they were sort of expecting a cancellation. My heart just went when the notification came through that the item sold and the price that it went for. I actually had to double check it, as I thought it was some sort of mistake. Well, actually as it happens, it was. I'm usually quite careful upon checking all my listings, but this one must've just slipped through.0 -

Am I the only one who would honour the sale?
If I make a mistake, it's not the buyers fault, it's my fault. Therefore I should take the hit on itEarly retired - 18th December 2014

True, but highly likely the buyer knew the price was a mistake and took a chance and not everyone can afford/stand to take a hit.
I'd more expect a business seller to take the hit than a private seller. Mistakes happen either way so while it's nice if you can take the hit there's nothing wrong with admitting the mistake and cancelling instead.
Also, I think the price makes a difference. Had it been a fifth off the price it wouldn't be so bad, but selling it for a fifth of the price is a big difference.0 -

Nicely said Flyonthewall, I agree, I would expect a business seller to honour it too and had I been a business seller, I wouldn't even contemplate backing out. Unfortunately, I am not in a position to just 'let go' of £20 because of a typo. And like you say, had it been £20.99 we would not be having this discussion0 -
OP it has been a few days now.
What was the outcome?0 -

I haven't heard anything back from the buyer, so I can presume that they were expecting a cancellation. I suppose, in their case, it was worth chancing their luck, if they get it, brilliant, if not, then it was worth a go.0
