    There's nothing more annoying than waiting and hoping for an item and then realising the seller probably never bothered to send it. That would get a negative from me!

    Plus then you have to buy the item again from elsewhere and if it's something you wanted asap then it's even more annoying that they've wasted your time when you could have bought it days ago.

    There's no need to lie. I'd much rather a seller be honest with me.

    Still a risk you take as if you get a neg there would be nothing you could do about it.

    I'm pretty sure, as I've mentioned above the item is still brand new with tags on it, it is considered to be a decent brand too.
    Why would the feedback be filthy?

    Thanks Flyonthewall, good to know that not everybody would automatically give you a negative for something like that.
    I would rather be honest with a buyer too. Yes, I can see how it might be disappointing for them not to get such a bargain, but how many times have we bid/bought something at a ridiculously low price and thought that there must've been a mistake and half expect a cancellation anyway? I know I have... I have sent an apologetic email to the buyer, explaining the situation and offered them a free P & P as a compensation, should they wish to purchase it a a correct price. From my feedback they will see that i am not some 'dodgy' seller and genuinely do my best for my buyers. Here's hoping they are quite an understanding person.

    Since I posted that I have found out that it was a BIN so that does make a difference.


    If it is an auction however and the seller listed as starting at £4.99 instead of £24.99 and then said it was a mistake, I would think that they were not happy the way the bids went and were reneging on the transaction.


    The problem the OP has is that she has no way of knowing how the buyer will take it and I think she was under the impression that once the transaction was cancelled feedback could not be left but it can be.


    Hopefully, she will have an understanding buyer in the circumstances.

    Exactly, they can see you're a good seller and you've offered them a good deal. I hope they're understanding and don't leave you negative!

    Same, but to be fair it could be genuine in that case. Clearly a missing number. If started at 99p and then it sold for £4.99 and said mistake that's obviously a lie. If they've got great feedback I still personally l wouldn't leave feedback for 4.99 instead of 24.99, however I would for an obvious lie.

    True. OP is clearly an honest person though and either way is a risk for negative feedback. So better to be honest and sort things now rather than lie and have to wait and drag it all out.
  • Yes I think you've done the right thing by getting in touch with the buyer and being upfront about it. Exactly the same happened to me once and the customer was very understanding about it...hope yours is too!

    If an item gets lost in post and the buyer opens INR case on Ebay you get a defect even when you refund.
    Personally I would cancel the transaction and take the defect rather than pretending to post.
