was it not in your debt plans? You are still in control - look at your signature! Speaks volumes Smile
o it is not in my debt plans because it is something that I did not even know about and it is going to set me back quite badly and I really am not sure what to do apart from that is maybe sell my sisters car which has been parked outside of my home since Saturday lunchtime but I do not think that she would like me to do that very much.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

Have you asked them to provide a signed copy of your credit agreement?
Do you know about this process at all? :think:0 -

Let them 'demand' it. They have no power over you. Their 'demand' is a request. You can 'demand' them to f*ck right of if you so wish!
That said. Don't ignore it. But deal with it on your terms. You are taking back the power and control here remember.0 -

I am just off of the phone to the Debt Collectors and for once it not actually for a credit agreement but for an overpayment of wages from my previous school because they had apparently paid me at the point above what I should have been paid for nearly six months and they want it back but they never contacted me about it ever and the Debt Collector has added a big amount for tracing me.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

I really hate myself for saying this but I in a way wish that my bother in law had not got back yet and that I had my sister around to deal with them for me because I can never stand up to people like this but she is very good at it and would tell them exactly where to go without batting an eyelid.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0 -

Well this is a different scenario to the rest of them so needs handling slightly differently in my opinion!
Are you a member of a union? If so I'd be tempted to ask their advice first. Did your previous employers have your new address or anything? To sent this straight to a debt collector seems harsh to say the least!0 -

I have to be a member of a union because I need to have my professional indemnity insurance incase I accidentally kill or injure any of my pupils in my workplace.I do not think that my previous employer had my address but I am sure that they must have known the address of my new employer because they wrote my reference for me for the job and it must have been in my old HR file.

Hi Ciara
I can only agree with both SS and Spud. Spud managed to say what I actually wanted to say, but I struggled. I am an old married lady who is jealous of people who are still single and would say (with the benefit of hindsight) make the most of your youth, BUT that does not involve going to xmas parties with married couples. I think somewhere along the line you will get the courage to stop thinking that what other people think of you matters. The only person who matters really is you!
As to the other matter, facing up to your debts is just the first step in a long line of issues. You will find that you face more over the coming months. You think you are getting control and something else hits you in the face.
SS is still right, they can't take money that you haven't got. Ring the union and seek their advice is a very good piece of advice. Take a deep breath and please don't worry about it. Please don't sell your sisters car, she would be upset I would imagine....

I think she would possibly be very upset if I sold it but I am not really sure because I have never really been able to understand exactly how that woman's mind actually works. She had actually had it for less than 24 hours when she left it here and she only left it and caught the train because she is very anti drinking and driving and did not want to take any chances but she should have been back for it on Sunday but she has not appeared yet which I believe is strongly connected to the early return home of her husband.
I took the advice and phoned the contact number for my union and they have said that they will forward my details with an outline of my problem to my local team who will get in touch with me. The person on the phone sounded really positive about it so I am hopeful about it in a way.Debt August 2007 - £38,204.58 - Completely Debt Free - May 2008 - Now Proudly Saving.DFW Nerd Number 684 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts:heartpuls Very Proud Aunty Ciara :heartpuls0
