boglehead robbed a bank this month? Some of the figures seem quite random e.g. £15k target, £11k declared in Feb xD odds of meeting the target just shortened to 1/200

My bonus got paid this month, hence the big bump. I am back on track for the year.
My earnings are not always linear, hence the random nature of my savings figure.

Well, end of April is nearing. No more payments from me as hefty CC to pay for in beginning of May. Total April savings are = £4370. Onwards and upwards! :p

    Thanks SF :) x

£780 for me this month SF. Had to pay the deposit on the new boiler, but should be able to make a good savings payment next month, I become a pensioner and receive a small lump sum and small monthly payment for the five years I worked at the Uni. It's the big 6-0 next month!

  • £1499 from us this month! I probably should have done a cushion check for the extra £1 hehe

I had a target to make £225 extra this month mystery shopping and ebaying and I managed to get all the way up to £199.45 so I was pretty chuffed.

We also went to France for the weekend to see relatives and I booked a couple of nights on AirBnB so ended up being quite an expensive month.

The cherry on top was that I've got a raise so I can now put away about £1k a month on top of OH's savings.....I remember when I first started working I only actually earned £1k a month....how things change :-)

Focus for this month is getting our food budget on point as this is where we had problems last month. Any mystery shopping cash this month is going towards a new hair do.

    I'm still here guys,

Have been doing pretty bad this year and I must try harder, it's been spend spend spend and it needs to be save save save!

It's not just been on unnecessary things like a new car *ahem* :o
But medical stuff too so it's been a balance.

Anyway I need to reset the credit card etc which I do pay off in full every month and once that's done I'll be right back with you trying to play catch up.

I've missed it here! Well done everyone who's been on it :T

I've also just realised my sig needs updating to the current year, I've really been off the wagon.

Checking in a few days before payday. Today will not be a good day for the 'Save £12k in 2016' challenge.

I was walking home from work last night and noticed a rip in my trousers, which is irritating because they belong to a suit that I've only had for less than a year. It's right in the fabric which is even more irritating because if it was on a seam I could have had them mended.

I wear a suit for work so I went into my wardrobe to pull another one out for today. Those that are not almost worn out I'm too fat for. So I had to go to TM Lewin today and buy another one. Spare pair of trousers for this one left me over £200 down all in. And I could do with another one.

I also booked myself onto a Spanish course because we're going to Spain in summer and I don't want to be one of those Brits abroad who can only ask for dos cervezas por favor. £183.

Bit of a rant, and I apologise for it. Hopefully it won't dent the grand plan too much :mad::mad:

Richy, I'm sure you and I are money saving twins. I too am having a bad savings month but also for the greater good. Signed up for weight watchers (via Quidco, of course) so my weekly food spend has gone up, and invested in an e-cig to help move away from the real things.

There's more to life than saving money - so long as you're still saving on average, which I expect you are, you're doing great. And good for you for taking a class! When I went to Cape Verde last summer (not very MSE) I bought a lonely planet pocket book to help me with Portuguese and the locals said my accent was goos because the book teaches you pronunciation :) They couldn't believe I'd learnt it from a book. Highly recommended!

They also said it was good. My spelling however...
  • £204 added to savings today taking my total up to £2500. It would have been more but I dipped into savings this month due to my car needing work done. Off to fill in the update sheet.

£1074.82 for April, paid for an amazing holiday and treated OH as she's put up with a lot recently, so I am very happy with that figure.

    Well done everyone this month
