Expensive month so far so don't think savings this month will be anything to write home about
I have paid out for flights to Switzerland in July (low cost airline in MSE style) and advance paid hotel as £500 cheaper so I have saved money but paying for it all upfront will make a serious dent in Februarys' savings. Also got my birthday next week so meal out, my car insurance on 20th and theatre tickets to buy. Good job January savings were much higher than anticipated.

Is it too late to join?
I'd like the target of £12k please.

Well despite the fact that it's only the 5th day of the month I've had an absolute perfect storm of bills to pay - tax bill, another vet bill, an insurance bill, TV licence, I've needed a tree cut down, am doing a will, so on and so forth, so having crunched some rough numbers I can't see that I will come out very far ahead for February. I reckon I'll be calling about £400, but of course I might have done my sums horribly wrong
We'll see! Doing my best to save as much as possible.

Bit late updating as was away last week, managed £1464.58 for January - it was an expensive month and Feb will be too, so not really going to get properly going with this challenge until March. At that point it's full steam ahead, hopefully...!0

Actually I forgot the plumber's bill! Still to come in and I'm not really sure how much it will be. Oh well, at least I've got the savings now to pay for these things
Next month will be better.

I'm still on target, I have £300 going into my work save-for-shares scheme (which I don't count for this challenge as it's taken directly from my salary), and £700 regularly into my savings accounts on target for my 8k goal this year.
That said, it looks like I might be made redundant soon - so we'll see how I get on with this. Fingers crossed it won't happen, but I should know by mid-Feb.
Seeing some fantastic numbers on here is really helping keeping me going! I've also done the minimalist game last month, and I'm selling tons of old textbooks on Amazon and other stuff on eBay - which is mainly going towards paying of my CC (which is normally paid off in full every month - hello Avios! - which should leave me with more cash in the current account!).#115 - Save £12k in 2019 challenge: £13152.85/29419.55 - 44%

Well done everyone!
I managed £1,603.51 (!) which is great for me and puts me at just over 10% already for the year. Taking a 20% paycut from now though so won't always be as good, but will keep trying!0 -
Spreadsheet and front page updated
