Declaring £378 for Month of January. Not a great month. Loads of spending on travel, helping out family expenses. hopefully month of Feb will be better.

Have spent quite a bit of time recently reading-up on more frugal or minimalist lifestyles, as this seems a great way of saving unnecessary costs. If you are interested, I'd recommend reading Theminimalists.com, Frugalwoods.com, MrMoneyMustache.com .... and our very own SlowlyFading's blog too of course!
Looking ahead, we have just 32 pay-days to go to financial independence... and escaping from the world of work forever. Hope Slowlyfading can keep this thread running that long!and I intend to, if people still want me too!

So January wasn't a very successful month in terms of saving. I managed a pretty meagre £141 due to buying a new work wardrobe, paying off the Christmas bills on the credit card and a few other bits for myself. It's better than making a loss and I'm hopeful this month will be much more productive. Plus I have my first direct regular savers interest to look forward to this month!0

Hello! What a fantastic idea! I saved £20k last year but £17k of that is about to go down as a house deposit, and the rest, I'm sure will be swallowed up in costs...
Stick me down for £10k, seeing as I'm already a month behind and now will have all the usual lovely house expenses!0 -

Well an expensive month means i am £547.31 down on my balance from December. Not the end of the world as i did put £500 into regular savers & ISA, so really i am only £47 down! Bring on February which should put me about £400 up from December! Fingers crossed!Save 12k in 2016 : #54 : £715.16 / £5,5000
