Just set up regular monthly savers for DH and I so I know we will be putting £6000 into a do-not-touch-it account at 6% (gross, and not really 6% as limit of £250 per months means actually just under 3% over the year).

We have both asked for last year's equivalent proceeds to be moved to ISAs with the BS we took them out with. These are really to pay down our mortgage in due course, but not just yet (our interest on that is lower still).

I will update my form now

  • Hello! I'm a long time lurker and 'played along' with the challenge last year.

Can I join please and make it official for 2016? I managed 9.5k with my partner (was aiming for 10k) but want to try for 14k this year.

Saving for a house, and also having a cushion after becoming jointly debt free. Would also like a holiday :-)

    Thanks Slowlyfading for running!

    Hello everyone,

Just paid my first £1000 into my savings :D I reached my target last year and this year I think I am going to try and aim above my target of £12k I don't care by how much but I'll see what I can do.

Still aiming for a house purchase either this year or next, so exciting times and better get saving!

Good luck everyone, we can do this.

Hi slowlyfading, would I be able to join please? I too have followed previous threads and would like to join for real this year.

I've been saving for a while and am not far off reaching my house deposit target; this is a great way to stay on track.

I'm looking to save £16k by the end of the year.

    Good luck and happy saving!

  • Could you sign me up again please. My target this year is £5000. Which I'm aiming to pay off my mortgage.

Started last year but stopped around 4 months in, after paying for a new bathroom.

    Time to smash it! #staythecourse

  • I'm a week away from pay day so I think I'm safe to submit my January savings (I'll fill in the form shortly). I'm off to a slow start with only £150, but I'm stashing some extra cash in a separate kitty for those hefty house maintenance costs we're anticipating in the next few months!

Number 36 reporting in for the first time this year :)

Declaring £1,600 for January which is my best month ever! No idea how it was done, especially with Christmas.

I did have £1,800 but decided to be good and pay £200 of my credit card.....only £398 left to pay off.

I could of course pay off the card in full but we are moving house soon and need as much savings as possible for the deposit.

Whatever money is left when the sale and purchase completes I will be paying off mine and my partners card
