I plugged the MSE Blue Planet tariff figures into my spreadsheet and it looks like something's wrong with MSE's CEC calculation. It says it'll cost me £110pa more than the Avro SuperPremier I'm on but my figures say £20. Checked the tariff MSE CEC has for me and it's Simple & Premier with no Simple & SuperPremier or SuperPremium listed so it looks like they're using the wrong figures.
At the moment, I'd be more inclined to expect £110pa increase than £20pa.

16-35 webchat working, have just checked it.
Not been working for most of yesterday for me and still unavailable today at the various times I have tried it.  Anyone have anything to say about ease of telephone contact?

  • Only works if they're using the right tariff to compare against. I'm sure SuperPremier was on the CEC list when I updated my details under 'Your current supply' but now I see it has me on the a Simple & Premier tariff with no SuperPremier or SuperPremium listed so it gives the wrong comparison results.
The moral of the story is never ever to take "savings" figures at face value without cross checking first. I wonder sometimes if such claims run counter to the Trades Description Act or some such but I suspect that the small print is tightly sewn up.

Don't bother with the phone it is useless,I tried for 20mins three times yesterday and still on hold.
I just got an email reply yesterday after 5 days of waiting.
Just keep getting told they are waiting on the industry database getting back to them.
Strange thing is though my friend was in the same situation with YE/SP Solr.
We both signed up on the same day to avro and both got a switch date of the 25th Jan.
Mine was rejected and changed to the 2nd Feb,He's went through no problem and both meters showed up on his switch date.
I recieved this yesterday saying they might have to Estimate the opening read.
    "Good Afternoon Mr Tucker,

    Thank you for your email,

I am sorry that there has been issue with the meter readings for electricity.

We are awaiting the opening meter reading to be confirmed via the national database.

We have to allow the previous supplier 30 days to confirm the opening meter readings before this can be escalated.

Until we receive the meter details we cannot issue a statement, If the readings are not received in 30 days then we will look to estimate a transfer reading.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused due to this.

    Thank you"
I am not happy with avro at all and there customer service is appalling.

!!!!!! surely the previous supplier SP has no say in the process other than to accept the reading supplied by the industry validation firm OR accept the deemed opening read if the opening meter readings are out of kilter to historical data for the property.  Now it seems we have another deadline - 15 days looks as though it has doubled to 30.  grrrr!

I don't quite see what all the fuss is about.
When the reading(s) validate then you'll get an updated statement. As long as the closing and opening reads match then you won't be charged twice for the same usage. If you pay by direct debit then it won't make a jot of difference to what you pay.

  • I dont want to make you any more GRRRR
But the email from them before that said 6 weeks. :s
Considering YE went Bust on the 2nd Dec last year and i still have not got this sorted.
They have not managed to set this up yet and i am thinking of jumping. :'(
Starting to look at Octopus Energy,More expensive but better Customer service.

It looks as though Avro are waiting for details from the administrators so probably not Avro's fault.
You could try applying for a switch anyway to see how that goes.
It's definitely a bit of a predicament you're in and I can't really suggest any other way through it other than just to wait.

  • No i switched from Scottish Power who were the solr for Yorkshire energy.
I have had the final bill from SP and paid it and they have closed the account.
And the same closing readings were given to avro as opening readings.
At no point in this are avro dealing with any administrator.
Yes you are probably right just have to wait and then jump away if i still feel let down.

The tariff being offered to existing customers Simple and Supersaving doesn`t seem to be on any comparison sites including CAB.
Simple and superswitcher seems to be the cheapest one showing.
