  • I recently bought something from PURELY GADGETS and the same thing happened.... and 2 x £8 have been taken in Sept & Oct. Have called shopdisc explained not happy and refund will be back on my card in 3-5 days.

I think we should start a list of shame for companies that are assocaited with this scam.

  • Hi all,

Guess what? I have just found out that I too have been had by Interflora. I have written to them and I have phoned shopdisc.co.uk. I got exactly the same responses too. I have been told my membership has been cancelled and I will get a refund. I am outraged to discover that £8 per month has been taken from my credit card. I too thought that I was ticking the box for a future £10 discount at Interflora. I will never buy from them again..I am convinced that Interflora know exactly what is happening. How can they keep getting away with this scam. I have just sent an email to the managing director at the email address that you have provided. (An utter waste of time..he knows what is going on!)

This has got to be a matter for BBC Watchdog, Trading Standards, etc. This is an obvious con from which Interflora, etc. are profiting.

My GF has also fallen victim to this, only after I showed her this thread too!!!!

She is a bit miffed and has written a stern letter to them today. And she (and hopefully her family and friends who she has warned) will never buy from Interflora again.

The only thing interflora (and 99% of big faceless companies) will listen to and act upon is their beancounters telling them of falling sales figures.
  • hi i to have been seeing an 8.oo pound being taken from my account each mouth since august.... i am now having money worries, so thought i would cut down on those sites you pay for membership. i went to the site shopdisc.co.uk and found it was not the site i thought it was, so when i search for the site again find you,.. read the arctle and then realised i to have been scammed.. i bought some flowers over the internet to interflora, in august, and since then been charged this 8.00 now i can not get it stopped please help... how to i stop this amount coming out of my account as the bank has no record of a dd,so etc as it is a card payment from my debit card. please help they have taken approx 3 months and i have not used the site since.
  • Dial-a-phone do a similar thing when you sign up to a mobile phone contract (you get one months free phone inusrance, thereafter at £5.00 a month or whatever the cost is). HOWEVER, the big difference is that this is made very clear when you sign up. Also it is simply a matter of stopping your £5.00 a month direct debit instruction at any time.

I think what has been happening here is atrocious and makes you suddenly more wary about shopping online. What is particularly annoying is the responses from Interflora etc which make out they are doing you a favor by signing you up to theses scams.

  • Got the shopdisc.co.uk £8 fee on my bank account, dug through email box and yes I did sign up, but I certainly do not recall seeing anything about an £8 monthly fee.

Now I emailed them to complain and ask for a refund, which they replied with
"Our records show that you or someone in your household joined Shopper Discounts & Rewards after completing an online transaction with RegNow_UK. After your transaction you were offered and accepted a membership in Shopper Discounts & Rewards. Immediately next to the offer, the Offer Details were displayed, which included the agreement that we could charge the monthly membership fee of 8.00 pounds to the credit card or debit card you used for your transaction with RegNow_UK after your trial period ended.
    "

Now I spend a lot of time online and check out things like this, I've even gone back now, and find the £8 fee is well hidden on their site, and even in the original registration email it was well hidden.

Certainly if I'd known to get the £10 discount coupon I'd be paying £8 a month then I'd never have bothered.

As for the visibility of it when I signed up - I do not recall it and it seems plenty of others have missed it. I was just expecting to get a bit more spam in post or email, not to pay for the discount coupons.

BTW my first post here, found this thread through Google and annoyed enough to want to make people aware of another company using them.

I'll let people know whether the refund does appear.
  • I haven't got time to read through this whole thread because I'm going out in a minute so sorry if this has already been posted.

If your credit card is Egg Money I wouldn't use Interflora anyway, you can get a discount at 0800flowers (or last time I check you could)
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.

If you do like it please hit the thanks button.

To be honest, I am absolutely shocked / annoyed that Interflora's directors have been told about this be myself and STILL they are selling this crap scam and STILL they haven't been arsed to come on here and comment on it!!!

It is shocking and I shall certainly never buy off them (overpriced tat anyway, go direct to a local flower shop for better service, price and quality)...

I'm surprised and disappointed too - thought a board level involvement would at the very least made the charge absolutely transparent so people could make a more informed choice. Shame, to say the least.

Just a small point - Interflora IS your local florist. The organisation mainly acts as a central clearing house for remote transactions, so boycotting Interflora means you're de facto also boycotting whichever local business that's a member which would have got the order. That's what makes it so sad... its actions at central office are potentially losing local florists business.
