I registered on 23 November. Today I got an email with a link to find out when the repair would be done and it's March! Unless of course I want to buy one. One choice of machine of either a vented or condenser type, vented £59, condenser £99, anyone else got this email?
Again, same old rubbish about first come, first served!
Yes had the same yesterday, March estimated repair or buy choice of two machines. How old is your machine? Mines just 2 years. It's a bit annoying some have to pay for what others have had free. I registered the 23rd too.
I'm not sure what to do, what are you thinking?0 -
Mine is older, bout 5 years, so I was hoping a new one would be better than a repair, but it seems that the later they look at the problem, they are more equipped to repair rather than replace. Like you, somewhat bummed to see that some get new ones whilst some get repairs - fair play to those who have new, but really, we should all have been treated the same.
Will be waiting for a repair as my husband has recently been made redundant so money is a bit tight.0 -
I registered mine on 26th November then received an email yesterday saying the estimated engineer visit is "January" - I'm not holding my breath! Or i can purchase a replacement for £99.00 I've read that some people have been able to get a replacement for free - If you are one of these people, what's the best way to go about getting one FOC??0

Own a 7 year old Indesit.
I can only think that the particular dryer I owned was considered unsuitable for repair or was more prone to spontaneous combustion. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I have just checked and I have one of the models affected. It's a very old hot point, I tried to register but don't know when we bought it so can't register. I need to look at our receipts to see if I can find anything.

Yes got the email yesterday. They were estimating April for our repair (registered on 24th November). We just opted to replace the machine for £59 as ours is 6 years old and based on the energy rating it will likely pay for itself over time compared to just repairing what we have. I don't think I'd pay up if the machine was newer though. Replacement due next week.0 -
I have been communicating with Hotpoint over this matter and I am being told continually different stories.
Just now I have been called by ‘P’ in the call centre, someone who has no authorisation to do anything other than book a modification. P was calling me in response to the second letter I have sent in which I refused a modification. I have opted to communicate via letter, since it is impossible to reach them via the call centre number.
According to ‘P’ people are only getting new dryers if the current one they have is less than 12 months old, apparently they have a duty to replace dryers less than 12 months old. I questioned this, because I know two people who have received new dryers and the old ones removed were between 2 and just over 3 years old – P couldn’t explain why this was. I also note people on here have had replacements when the model they have is over a year old.
He also claimed stock was low, so a manager could not authorise a replacement. I questioned if stock was low how was it I was being offered the option of buying a new vented dryer for £59 or a Condenser one for £99 and that stock was showing as green on the link in the email they sent to me, again he couldn’t give me an answer. I pointed out this was clearly so they could entice people to buy a new one and make less work for themselves in the long run.

Just to add:-
In GOOD NEWS... During my call with 'P' I threatened legal action and asked for a copy / transcript of the call for my solicitor, 'P' agreed to send this out to me informing me all calls were recorded...
Just over hour later, I've had a call again from Indesit Customer Services, referring to my letter (but not the earlier phone call!), and offering me a NEW VENTED TUMBLE DRYER! I should be contacted in a few days to arrange delivery!
Perseverance is the key! Clearly the mention of legal action and wanting a copy of the telephone call for my solicitor pushed them in the right direction!0 -
