Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.

Thank you to Bossyfor last week's thread

There are 3 levels per day with depending on how much time you have. Feel free to mix and match to suit your own personal circumstances.

Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up.

These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.

Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.

A few of the basics before we start the week:

Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!

Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.

Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.

Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.

Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis

HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!

Some of our abbreviations: DH- dear husband, OH- other half, KH/CF- affectionate term for ex husband or partner ;) DS/DD- dear son/daughter, DGC- dear grandchild, WM- washing machine, DW- dishwasher, LR/DR- living/dining room, RoD- room of doom, Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al- supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!

  • Thanks Natty. I MUST be in this week. Thanks bossy for last week. I kept reading but didn't even flutter an eyelash until today, and that was like Dusty, in the garden as it was so gorgeous.

Birds fed, garden furniture finally under cover. Not totally dry, but I can't count on another 24hr spell. Will try and keep an eye out and 'air' it on clear days. But at least it is a bit protected.

Also tucked growbags under there so that they are not a waterlogged block of cement by the spring. Fed them with soil preparation so fingers crossed I'm more successful next year. This year I got a few tomatoes. Nothing from a mix of 200 plug plants of lettuce, cabbage, pak choi and kale. Or 3 healthy courgette plants.

I'm off at 0300 Saturday morning. The house needs to be sparkling so I don't come back to chaos. We'll see. At least without DH around it doesn't get cluttered, so what I clean will stay clean.

((((hugs)))), spoons and sticks as necessary (I stored a few extra spoons with a brilliant 3.5 mile run in the frozen sunshine today) CY hope tomorrow goes as well as possible.

Thanks for lists, even if I don't stick to them.
    CY hope tomorrow goes ok.

The house is passable at the moment; probably about half the Xmas cards are written and most of the few people I buy presents for are "planned". That's the good bit.

Less good have to be list contents:
    - 5 and a bit reports to write
    - 3 assessments this week so that will be another 3 to write
    - Managed gym x 3 last week so want to match that at least
    - Must try to keep on top of mess in office.
    - Keep writing cards
    - Continue planning for the next 2 weeks so the long weekend away 3-7 is enjoyed and not a mad rush moaning about weight/clothes/panic at having left home in a mess with work undone.
    - keep on top of flying
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Thank you to Natty for this week's list and to Bossy for trying to keep us in order last week.

Welcome home Skinty - lovely to have you back with us :D

I have had a good weekend and cleared everything off my list except for one letter which I am going to write before I go to bed tonight. I took the silly pink bows off my new grey slippers and replaced them with a couple of buttons, just because I felt like it. After a hearty lunch we went for a bracing half-hour walk up the local hill-that-is-higher-than-anything-to-the-East-until-you-get-to-the-Urals-in-Russia. I even weighed out the Xmas pudding ingredients this morning and we and our German visitor stirred them - I need to cook them tomorrow, before I eat too much of the raw mixture

I am at home all day tomorrow, so hope to crack on with various bits:
    - check finances
    - S&S kitchen
    - S&S bathroom
    - WMx2
    - cook the Xmas puds
    - plant up the rockery (at last!)
    - start filling in an application form
    - prepare the course I'm running on Wednesday afternoon
    - prepare the course I'm attending on Wednesday evening
    - weigh out the ingredients for my goddaughter's wedding cake (4 layers) :D
    - sort Christmas present lists
    - write some Christmas cards
    - try to list some of the baby items that are now cluttering up my study (to help DS2 and DDiL2 declutter their bedroom) on eeebuy or our local FB sales page

Hope everyone has a good week x
