And those were sample figures.
A couple might have £80k equity, they might be earning £30-35k each.
Their takehome would be £3000/month even on the figures I threw around
What is relevant is the %age of take home that is mortgage. And on my "throw some figures about" example it is just 30%.

Council, NHS, similar type funded jobs.0 -
When are you people going to reliaze that if you cant sell your house it is because the price is wrong!
Market value is what you can get someone to pay you for it. :T
Congratulate yourself again, why don't you on your spectacular insight and downright rudeness. :rolleyes:Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

It maybe could have been worded more nicely by the poster but the meat of the comment is spot on. If it's been on the market for a year with 14 viewings then it's overpriced.
To repeat the 'rudeness' - houses are worth only what the market will bear and not what the owner thinks it ought to be worth.
Aside from that, I agree with the comments about the picture of the house on Rightmove. It's doing the place no favours and should be replaced with something that shows the house in a better light.--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0 -

Oh dear.
IcemanUK is right, and I can't see any rudeness in his post. But if that's not what people want to hear, then how about this...
OP, since your home has been on the market for a year, it's value has probably increased by at least 15%. UP THE PRICE YOU FOOL!!!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Fine. I'll start all my posts with 'When are people like you going to learn' and end them, as I am learning by your replies, as FOOLS.

And I will use the rest of my post to state the bleeding obvious.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have 3 pc's and could not get the virtual tour to work.
Personally I prefer all photos on the same page, including room sizes in imperial and metric measurements. That way I can scan the info quickly without too much clicking about.0 -
I couldnt get the virtual tour to work either0

Although I think I have said myself before on this forum that a house is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, that is not strictly true - it's worth what someone is prepared to pay AND what someone is prepared to accept.
I agree with Doozergirl about the rude comments - there is no need for posters to be so snappy and judgemental on here. I suspect if some people weren't hiding behind an anonymous handle on an internet forum, they'd be a lot nicer.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -

So it's now considered rude to state the obvious is it? The UK house market is wildly overvalued and has been driven by
A. GREED
B. The availabilty of cheap credit
C. Lax lending standards
D. Lying on mortgage applications
As far as I can see A is still firmly in place. B has been turned of at source as has C and D will see some people in jail.
Without B and C you have no housing market in its current form. As a consequence prices will drop. You can deny it all you like but it is reality and like in the US and Spain it will also get worse because the easy credit has now been turned off at the tap
PS
I also appologize to the OP if I came across as rude, it was not intended. I was just exasperated that people seem to look at eveything but the market and the price.
When I see this

Yes 35 acres for 168 grand it makes me angry to look at the ridiculous state of the UK market when an ordinary person cannot afford a home for his family.0
