So glad Im not here all alone.

I am now almost below the £1000 mark which will be the first time in about 9 years (at least) and to think it all started off with a £500 credit limit with Barclaycard.

I think the Credit card debt at its highest was about £15Kand I put £10K on the mortgage 3 years ago, I feel ashamed that I let my family get into that sort of mess.

Once I have paid of the CC balance I am going to throw anything spare at the mortgage as I wont be happy until I know that all real credit card debt is gone.

Out of the £10K I put on the mortgage there is still £9600 left to pay with additional borrowing fees and a recent change of product charge added. I feel that I will never be rid of the reminder of my "misspent" ways but it is good to see it seperate on my statement so when I overpay I can instruct the lender to pay it off the additional borrowing.

These forums are just what I need. I cannot tell you how much they help me.
But these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.
  • Glad everyone is still working away at these. Shame Emily who started the challenge hasn't been on to let us know how she is doing. I'm treading water just now with my debts and happy to do so until after Christmas. So long as it doesnt go up I'll be very happy. Keep going girls x

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Oh well, someone has to fail and I think it's going to be me....will have cleared two by Christmas...but EGG has gone way back up there due to essential car repairs. No hope of clearing that for ages now.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
  • Beemuzed you havn't failed, you have cleared two debts for that reason alone you should be proud.

  • Wow, not checked on this for ages and everyone has been doing really well!!! :j

I've not done as well as expected so far but theres still just over a month left.
Got rid of 1 of my 3 on wednesday so thats a start I suppose and am slowly chipping away at my Dotty P's card.
Saving hasn't been going great but I might actually be moving soon anyway so I won't need to save it anymore because it'll all be spent haha!

Well done everyone, 5 weeks to go!
