Good afternoon have enjoyed my NSD as a friend rang out of the blue asking if I would like a visitor and when you live on your own it's always nice to have someone to chat too and share lunch with:TAfter she went I continued the marathon task of writing the Christmas cards ...all done now but not without consequence ...glitter everywhere
Early dinner for me then back to my can't put down book;)

Goodness, you're well organised Nannylala. I'm pretty sure I bought cards in January but have no idea where I've put them :o

I believe stoozing is getting an interest free credit card. Withdrawing the whole amount in cash and investing it till you need to pay it back. Havent done matched betting but have done a bit if betting on TCB AND QUIDCO. 2 years ago when my son got married I paid for 2 hotel rooms in London for 2 nights ( nice hotel too ) with the proceeds of cashback betting. I dont have an addictive personality ( except for food!! ) so felt safe doing it

No good for me then dont even have a credit card:o

    Heres my current stooze allocation:

I have a 'Mrs' Neas so we double up on accounts.

    *Breaths in*

Right... so I have the following credit cards

    M+S (0% for 18 months) Mine - 6,000 debt
    M+S (0% for 18 months) My Wife -6,000 debt
Barlcays (balance transfer from previous purchase 0 % for 28 months) - £6000
Lloyss ( balance transfer from previous purchase 0% for 27 months)) - £2000
Tesco credit card (current one for purchases 0% for 21 months)

And I have the equivalent cash in these 'savings' accounts. It is true savings accounts give about 1% but if you are clever you can get around 3-5% saving rate from current accounts. So we have the equivalent cash in these sorta accs:

Santander 123 current account (must pay in £500 a month and 2 DD) 3% on up to 25,000 -£11,000
TSB Mine -5% interest before tax up to 2,000 - £2,000
TSB Wife -5% interest before tax up to 2,000 -£2000
    Nationwide Mine - 5% interested before tax up to £2,500 - £2,500
Nationwide Wife - 5% interest before tax up to £2,500 -£2,500

So I have £9,000 earning 5% before tax so 4% after and £11,000 earning 3%, so approx the interest rate is 3.45% (last time I calculated it).

To get 3.45% I have 5 current accounts between the of us and effectively the stooze money is transfered by SO each month from one account into another thus meeting the 'pay in X' amount per month criteria. For example Nationwide sends £1000 to TSB and TSB sends £1000 to Nationwide on the same day.

So 3.45% on 20,000 squid is nearly £700 profit :)

    Holy hell.

    What can I say.

God smacked, but impressed. I have no idea how you keep track of the monthly repayments etc.

I always pay my credit card off monthly. I paid my mortgage off in my 20's and only took another one out 5 years ago to build the house. I have absolutely no debts, and my credit score moves from 1/5 to 2/5 depending on how much I have spent on my credit card (I have just put £11,000 on it - so it was nearly maxed out.... and I dropped to 1/5 credit score) It is that bad... they refused me a phone contract and refused to allow me to pay upfront incase I was money laundering!.

I really just do not get it, I earn a good wage, I have a healthy bank account.... I suppose this is good as it means I will not be stoozing at all!

Seen that I cannot get on the Quidco xmas site, it maybe a blessing in disguise!!

stoozing is when you take a 0% interest free credit card for say 2 years and put the money you would spend on stuff into a savings account.

You owe 5000 to the credit card, and have the 5000 pound you would've paid off in a savings account.

The profit is approximately the interest on the 5000 pound i.e. 3% a year would be 150 quid a year.

There are other factors which reduce the profit (you must pay back minimuma amount and there is tax etc).

But once setup its kinda free income per year, nothing major maybe 1k to 2k extra year depending on your debt (and equivalent savings).

Only done for those with good credit and not going to blow the money.
As far as i know i have good credit, no debt but then saying that as i dont have anything at all what i "owe" on my credit rating is perhaps zilch, so hope i dont ever need it:rotfl:

Thinking about it I think one of the most productive methods of earning for me this year has been when I've written letters of complaint
ie amount of time its taken for me to compose a carefully crafted letter or email with accompanying photos of receipts and items (usually about 20 minutes or less) compared with the results.

Just off the top of my head I can think of 6 - John Lewis, Sainsburys, Jordans, Molton Brown, Groupon and Bella Italia - companies I've contacted and the results have been £54 (vouchers, money, points) and a set of MB miniatures

also when Scottish Power put up my direct debit by a silly amount I sent them a message and OK my DD has still risen but now its £10 less than the original rise so that possibly £120 over a year.

(and incidentally I realised First Direct had not awarded me my £125 switching bonus so that was a very productive phone call!)

I don't make complaints up, everything is genuine and mostly its a query rather than a complaint and I very carefully word things keeping it as light hearted as possible.
I also balance things out by complimenting if I've had good service or when someone in a shop has gone out of their way to be helpful - twitter is useful for this as the praise is passed along very quickly

so that's £174 (not including First Direct) from writing complaints which I would have trouble earning in interest from a savings account and in much less time

HG being retired does make it easier to be organised ...when I buy my cards like you do in January in the sales I always mark it on the calendar for November saying I have got the cards ..that way I don't replicate as I have done in the past ...I also do it when I get cheap Birthday cards too ;)

Ooooh I love a good coupon....made an effort to print some out today.

Got 2 Covent Garden ones and got a couple of the skinny ones in A

Cidres and the porridge ones I picked up in S last week.....S allowed me to put 5 through.:T

The Barilla pasta has gone up in T to £1.50 so I will wait patiently for it to come down in price.
Found an M&S womble .......£5 off when you spend £30 so now the race is on to get the mymail fivers and I have to find 24p on valued opinions to get to £10.50 when I can withdraw a tenner.

That's nearly a shop in itself. :rotfl:I'm planning to get tins of M&S biscuits for Christmas ......love a good tin......they get lots of use throughout the year transporting cakes:)
