Charging for deliveries and click-and-collect bags

The number of bags used isn’t always known until delivery takes place. This means you can charge for an average number of bags for multi-bag deliveries, as long as 5p or more is charged per bag overall.

Suggests there must be a minimum charge of 5p per bag, so 2 for 5p is unlawful?

Seems like it would be unlawful, unless they argue 5p average across all sales maybe?

What annoys me is Asda's optional click collect bags, 40p and you just get the old 5p bags from my store

On the subject of carrier bags, the other day I went to pick up something from Lakeland that I had ordered online. The lady went out the back to fetch it and came back with it in a carrier bag. She asked whether I wanted the bag and said she would have to charge me 5p if I did. I declined as I had a bag with me and she said she would have to dispose of the bag as it was used!
(I know you want to know what I bought TM, it was some drawer dividers)

Just reading up on T's Brand Guarantee but have a question that only the ELITE would know.....
If the comparable products are deducted before paying does that mean if I have a conditional spend voucher of £3 off WYS £20, it will have already made deductions from a Barilla based shop (to use coupons against Morries 75p prices), to make it much harder to get to £20 to start with?
    TIA

I think so. I think it's like a T mbuy deal that deducts off your bill and thwarts your attempt to reach a certain amount:(. Unless anyone can contradict me, that's my understanding. However, if your cond.spend is valid online, the same situation does not apply to online shopping.

So, instore, you're £2 short of £20 spend say. You add an item that is individual price £2 but is on 2 for £3 with something else in your shopping - so it adds the remainder of whatever would be to bring you to 2 for £3 and thus you fail to reach £20. Might be different if it were £2.79 and 2 for £2? Then it deducts 79p if you add a second one - however, there would be little point doing this as you would already have got over £20 in such a situation if you are then hitting it by adding the second item and therefore you wouldn't be seeking to reduce your final T bill (prior to the cond.spend). Indeed, adding a further item (unless you are exceeding the £20 TBG "discount" already) would be ill-advised on two counts: first it would lose out by T mbuy deductions being accounted for in the comp. vs elsewhere and, second, it would probably increase the competitor bill to add a second item. It certainly would do the last thing if you were adding two of the same item: makes no sense, it's like a T bogo'f' that's on cheaper or same individual price as the bogo'f' is elsewhere. Eg £2.00 or 2 for 1 in T. Competitor £1 each. Buy 1 - difference is £1:). Buy 2 - difference is zero (competitor now would cost 2x£1 = £2, same price as the T bogof price):(.

The only situation in which you would get a T mbuy (unless you wanted to reduce your TBG 'discount') is if T's offer is excluded from the T&Cs e.g. 6 wines 25% off or meal deal offers (but would need branded items).

I would expect it to be on the £20 spend before the BG.

On the subject of their Brand Guarantee, I have won an argument with Tesco:

Thank you for your reply and providing the additional information.

I appreciate your concerns regarding the lack of knowledge about the Brand Guarantee from my colleagues in store. I can assure you that they were all briefed on this prior to the launch of the new Brand Guarantee, so it is disappointing to receive a complaint of this nature.

As discussed, I have raised your complaint with my Brand Guarantee Team, who advised that the issue with the Rice Crispies Squares was an error on our part. This has now been rectified and the product will compare going forward.

Furthermore, I have brought the points raised in your correspondence to the attention of the Store Management Team. Who were equally disappointed to receive a complaint of this nature, and they have promised to address the problems you had experienced in their next meeting, to see what lessons can be learned for the future.

Also, I have arranged for a £5.00 Tesco Moneycard to be sent to you as a gesture of goodwill and to cover the difference. This will arrive within the next 5 to 10 working days.

Thank you for taking the time to contact us and if you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch.
What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare
