No way. I earn more money in my current job and only do 1 weekend in 4. Plus, yesterday I was given a tidy payrise so I'm now even happier to stick where I am.
TeleTech would have been convenient, what with me having a wife and new born baby to think of, working from home would be great, even with the pay cut and unsociable hours.
But it certainly wouldn't have been a wise career move. So, blessing in disguise me thinks.0 -
A bit of an insult really!! I still havn't had any reply to my question but I am not going to push for one now, because they are not the type of company I am willing to work for.0

Things happen for a reason I guess.
It's fine for students or housewives I guess (or househusbands!), or others who perhaps don't intend on considering it their main, permanent job. Perhaps retired people who fancy killing a bit of time while earning a few pounds.
I was planning on doing a 20 hour part-time job as well as 20 hour TeleTech. Result (hypothetically) would be full-time money but physically leaving the house only part time. But in all honesty, I probably would have lived to regret it anyway.

I was also going to do it as a part time thing and have another part time job out in the real world. It would drive me mad not having that interaction with people that you wouldn't get working from home full time. And I need full time work to be able to afford to live which Teletech aren't offering by looks of things anyway. Congrats on becoming a daddy
Snoop - My daughter is also 21, 22 this year!! I don't know where the time goes!0 -
Elkay!!! you are so right about the social interaction!!! I so miss my ex colleagues and the great jokes we use to have. Since being at home, well what I can say about isolation mate. But you know the internet is not the same but it has given me a life line!!! I can't out and about like before and so spend nearly my whole day at home. I have keyworkers, and good friends around me who do much for me when I need it.
But I haven't lost my humour and still plod on, dispite the set backs of employers looking at me as if I was an alien!!! lol
I have been looking for work for a long time, tried to hide my disability when my walking wasn't too bad, the pain was awful.... but working from home, who is gonna know I am disabled. As I explained to Ellen, my work is on the phone no one can see me, just hear my voice!!
As for our kids, well Jammin you've some wonderful times ahead of you mate you. Elkay, before you know it, they are taking care of us. My daughter is wonderful and looks after me in every which way due to my spine. She says she loves me and very happy to take care of old mum!!! lol.0 -
sorry to hear that jammin. my trainer did say yesterday that they are looking to recruit another 250 people for the sales positions so its baffling why you did not get through. they are also offering up to 30 hours now aswell and overtime. i understand your frustration.i do however disagree with your comments on it only being suitable for students, houewives or the retired who dont consider it their main job or only want to earn a few extra pounds. with commission you can earn a good wage. In fact one mse'er was offered a team leader role and left her current employment to take it up.i wish you the best of luck in what you do now and in the future.0

How much is the pay per hour???0

I work entirely from home. I am on what I call "good money". Certainly more than I have earnt in real jobs for the past 7 years.
But now I am looking for a real job because I am feeling that I am losing touch with the world. I live alone. I work alone from home. I can go a whole month without a conversation with another human being. And even then it never amounts to much more than maybe 1-3 hours once a month max.
However, the way I've got things ticking over, I should be able to do both, which suits me fine.
The trouble I am now having is trying to explain to agencies when they call what I've been doing for the last year or so. They aren't liking the answer "I don't need to work, I WANT to work, I'm earning good money already".
It's just nice to know that the online money's coming in 24/7 now, so any work I do is already on a nice bedrock of online income. Except I will be hitting 40% tax on most of whatever I do in a real job, so I have to only get a highly paid job to make it worthwhile as 50% (inc NI) will just disappear from my total extra income when it's all put in the melting pot.0
