What's available is very variable depending on date and how much you're willing to pay, Hotels in the same immediate area that have been on there include The Stafford, Athenaeum, Dukes, Le Meridien Piccadilly, May Fair Hotel, Holiday Inn Mayfair. I did mention the Athenaeum (looks fab!) but the breakfast is sooo expensive, lol. I will have a look for the others and let her know.

On my pass through, I also noticed St James Hotel and Club was available as "Ultra-luxury boutique Mayfair hotel", this is one that I recall being asked about before. Still pricey though.

The prices you have there do not look great, if you compare them to very short-notice prices you can do a lot better

Your fab at this thank you, my eyes were getting sore in the end so stopped at £156.25 as I was checking Google/MSE & Trip Advisor, oh & looking out for other bargains, lol.
I agree about the prices but with the 15% discount being offered it helps a little bit. The Andaz does look amazing, I just wish it was me that was going

I think I've seen almost all of those apart from the Andaz sub-£100 when actually booked last minute...The only ones on that list I would recommend are Crowne Plaza St James, Andaz and Novotel Paddington, but I'm not sure Novotel is particularly romantic...

My friend has fallen in love with the Cranley but she doesn't want to be given the Petite room so may book direct. I will tell her about your recommendations though.
I hope to book a hotel between Christmas & New Year as a treat which we have never done before so the research will be worth it, hopefully!

Think the Cranley might well be cheaper direct than at the secret hotels price? I've heard it's supposed to be quite decent but I don't know enough about it to give it a recommendation.

edit: was it 12 March your friend was looking? looks to be sold out???

edit #2: Interesting - upon further investigation it is only available as part of a multi-night stay when booking through normal channels but it is still available for just the one night as a secret hotel.

Thank you I shall let her know. I don't think she would have booked it yet as she has to do it without her husband knowing (surprise present for him) plus she is just getting to know the internet world, hence me helping her out.

It's a newish description of Apex City of London, a very nice hotel.

Somebody two pages back apparently saw a better price by booking direct, so remember to compare.
