MSE News: Four million TalkTalk customers to get free upgrade

Same disappointing experience on a chat to one of their advisers.
Earlier I was given free Anytime Calls Boost for 2x3 months (they could not give the promised 6 months in one go) as a remedy for loosing out on Speedy Payment Discount in mid October. The first 3 months of the free Boos should run out on 12th January.
The lady on chat told me, that it is not possible to override the existing Boost offer with the 12 months free Customer Upgrade being offered now in December. As I explained to her, I have a good ongoing SIM deal with Three UK and I am quite familiar with IT and do not need any WiFi "health check", so any of two remaining offers did not appeal to em at all. after consulting her manager, she offered me a consolation of £10 one off added to my account removing eligibility to take any Free Customer Upgrade offers in the future. The bit she could not be more clear, as if this small consolation would make me ineligible for any such offers in the future, left me feeling so let down and ridiculed, that I just had to end that chat without getting any proper solution.
I'll see what happens if I try the free upgrade in my online account, since this should be available from today 9th December, but I am not holding my breath.
TalkTalk just left me feeling so stupid as a reward for staying with their service...0 -
Online upgrade is not working at 7am on the 9th December - I actually liked talktalk despite the data issue.
FALSE PROMISE'S from talktalk are leaving a bad taste with me.0 -

Just ordered the 'free SIM' online.
To be fair it was straightforward. Just have to wait and see how long it takes to turn up.....0 -

Good to hear it was "straight forward" for you. I just togged onto my account as the advert says, and i could not finbd a link or tab, how did you order your "free sim"?Trinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
ok, i used the help button to look at mine.
for those who have experienced difficulities trying to find the "free upgrades" I used this link:
http://help2.talktalk.co.uk/customerupgrade
then clicked on "my account" to log in
it seems not everyone is being offered all four upgrades, but upgrade options tailored for individuals. what nonsenseTrinidad - I have a number of needs. Don't shoot me down if i get something wrong!!0 -
The only offers available to me are the mobile sim and free health check.
Neither of these is of any use to me!
I asked for the free calls upgrade via online chat and they say they can't do it because I already have the boost.
Talk Talk, rather than appeasing customers, are alienating many by their mealy-mouthed 'free upgrade offers', plus it seems they are choosing upgrade options for some.
Incredible!! Pity I'm still locked in for another 12 months or so. Here's hoping they implement another price increase so I can leave without penalty.0 -

In the meantime, better not make too many phone calls as I'll be paying for them! Lucky I have a mobile with free calls, but there's the rest of the family while I'm out...0 -
They told me the same, but I then asked if I remove it, will I then get the option to have to have it as a "free upgrade". They said yes but I'll have to wait a few days. So have removed the boost, now wait and see if I get the option to select it as a free upgrade.

I've read on their forums that they won't allow this so I think I'll wait and see what happens.
It's a complete and utter shambles as usual.0 -
Same here. No "upgrade" of any benefit other than the anytime talk boost (which I already have so, bizarrely, not available).
Talktalk are utterly out of control. How to leave a customer feeling even more cheesed off following their "gesture".0
