Can they be leased? Either to actually lease one, or to get an idea of the leasing companies' view on depreciation.

I see £544 + vat for 3+48 lease, based on 8000 miles pa.

So about 3 times the cost of a basic hatchback/small SUV lease.

If you check the Tesla website they had an offer on the Tesla S with guaranteed buyback after three yrs I think it was.

If you have access to a nearby Tesla FastCharger then you can have as near zero fuel costs as is possible.

When I costed up using a Tesla S for Private Hire it worked out cheaper long term than buying an E220 and buying diesel.

But only if you can make use of the free charging infastructure that I was able to.

Don't forget to factor in if you have access to the Tesla free charging network.

Which could easily save you £150/200 a month.

And for those living in or around London it will also mean no CC

The other option is a used Model S. Tesla have 33 on sale through their website, they all come with a balance of manfactures warranty (8 years) and/or 4 years used car warranty. The problem is the oldest Model S is only 12 months old, and all the used cars are loaded 85/P85 versions which cost £70-90K new. They have all dropped by about £15-20K per year but all are still £50-60K+

They are well hidden on the website in that I can't find them....
    I think....

How does the maths work given the BIK (7%?) and 50% of the vat for a company car with no company miles for a 40% tax payer?
    I think....

Theres a BMW i5 rumoured to be appearing in late 2016 early 2017 if you can't quite stretch to an i8, I'm quite looking forward to it, the i3 was a bit too small for me. Whilst it might not be what you're looking for, the extra competition might force tesla to throw in a bit of discount, especially as the i5 is likely to be cheaper.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the new, and more affordable, Tesla Model 3 due out sometime end of next year or early 2017.

They keep on changing the website...There use to be a really big and clear 'PreOwned' section, it's now under the 'Buy a Model S today' bit.

    http://www.teslamotors.com/en_GB/models/preowned?source=models-features0

This is a really useful website by a Tesla owner in the UK, on deprecation/Tesla buy back etc

    I wouldn't hold your breath.

The Model 3 will be shown off in March 2016, but first production cars wouldn't come off the line till 2017 at the earliest - The gigafactory where the battery packs are made is only due to start producing a small amount of battery packs in late 2016. Without the gigafactory fully up and running Tesla wouldn't be able to make the Model 3.

Add in the fact RHD versions wouldn't arrive for at least 6-8 month after the US pre-orders have been fulfilled, and US customers aren't waiting 4-5 months on orders. I doubt your be able to get a production RHD Model 3 before 2018/19.

Sadly the way I see it, if you want a battery EV with a real life range of over 200 miles, the Model S is the only choice for the next few years.
