Aldi's Supermarket Secrets - 8pm Monday

I watched it and also thought it was a load of biased claptrap. What sane shopper would buy a cucumber that was so obviously past its best irrespective of any date on the side I shop with my eyes, nose and hands and they have not let me down yet in almost 60 years.I shop at Aldi's, Lidl's (their Sittingbourne shop is spotless IMHO)and have never had any cause to dislike anything I have bought. The Dispatches programme was abysmal and the so-called retail expert was a waste of time (didn't do the other chains he worked for much good as an expert did he ?)
The girl that knelt on a freezer top was just too silly for words and should have been sacked for gross negligence.
I like to get through the tills as quickly as I can then take my time packing my shopping the way I want to with separate bags for different items and not just hurriedly stashing everything in a muddle,it also gives me time to check my till receipt. I am quite pleased with the cash I save and the excellent service I get from both Aldi's and Lidl's in Sittingbourne and the pleasant cherrfulstaff that are there to help you find what you want0 -

That's a very good point JackieO. I've mastered how to pack quickly because as others have said I put things on the conveyor in the order I want to pack them. I have two large bags (from Carrefour IIRC) that sit open in the trolley at the ready. BUT, I always stop by the packing shelf to check my receipt before putting it away in my purse. To be fair, I haven't found an error yet.0 -

Tbf it was Lidl and the error was corrected fast as I just waited for the person after me to be served (all of approx 30 seconds by my estimation).
All the Aldi / Lidl naysayers can take a running jump. Their money cannot buy them common sense!Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Aren't you both right? Monday is 01, which makes Wednesday 03.
Yep you are right! :T
Got fooled by the fact I did not register the word 'today'.The more I live, the more I learn.

I went to our Aldi yesterday morning (where I have been shopping since it opened 22 years ago), to find it un-naturally quiet for a Thursday. I just hope this ridiculous programme hasn't done what it appeared to set out to do - and put people off shopping there. If so more fools them for being taken in by this witch hunt!"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0

Agreed; you would think that "the general public" would know better and have the common sense to see through such bias.
Sadly, looking at many posts within these very forums it would appear that this is not the case.0 -

I think the program had a point about open dating. I have bought fruit from Aldi that looked OK on the day but began to decay far sooner than from other supermarkets.
Even the "quality" retailers are only as good as their staff.
When a new Waitrose opened several years ago I was shocked to see the number of packets in the fridges that were past their sell-by dates.
On one occasion I also noticed at the checkout that a cream cake that I was about to purchase from M&S was nearly a week past its date.0 -
was following the discussion on twitter and 99% of the comments were the same this was a hatchet job on Aldi probably sponsered by Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys the journo was totally biased
i wouldnt be surprised if Aldi's takings are more this weekend by people wanting to see bread chucked on the shelves and staff falling through freezers"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0
