Well done CCL!! I just read last night's end of thread and noticed right away you'd done it. Then came on here and was searching the thread for an announcement thinking she must have told us surely?? Then there it was on page 2

You are and have been a huge inspiration. I couldn't be more happy for you
And Ally, remind me never to cross you (in a dream)

A late post from me as I've spent most of the day in the town where I had to go to the dentist. We're looking for a new carpet and thought we'd have a look round while there, but still haven't made a final decision.
I have my tooth back in situ now, at a cost of £18.80. What's really annoying is that I paid out for a check up just a few weeks ago. The only consolation is that at least I didn't drop it down the plughole, or swallow it. I swear that if I had swallowed it, I would have had a good look for it!!
Ally - Many thanks for the tips on how to recover a lost post (especially as the same thing has just happened again!). When I have an hour or so to myself, I will re-read your post & follow your instructions.
CCL Congratulations!
Off now to make cheap & tasty Homity pies for tea.

Well done CCL - it must be the most amazing feeling.
Twiggy I made a curry a couple of weeks ago using a recipe that I got from the internet, it had loads of good reviews. I dont know whether I did something wrong but it looked revolting and was soooo spicy. I have frozen it in small portions, OH says he will take it in his food flask for work!
So, todays confession - I spent £3 on the car wash. We live in a very rural area and it's impossible to keep the car clean. I just couldnt be bothered to wash it again.
But on the other hand I have recycled a Christmas present from last year (a nice toiletries set) and given it to someone as a birthday present. Just dont tell any of my friends ....
Right, need to take DS to the docs soon so better move myself.0 -
Hello,
Had a really productive shopping trip with OH.
We have bought a 140cm tall fridge to replace our truly mini fridge which is woefully inadequate for it. We paid £158 with free delivery and £3.10 cashback from Quidco. We wanted to buy locally but just couldn't find one that would fit the budget, local places wanted £220 plus for the same sized item. So we went with https://www.AO.com. I was amazed at the delivery options. Bet you can guess which option I chose!
£0: Wait til Thursday for delivery
£19.99: Pre-booked delivery timeslot
£2.99: To take away the packaging after delivery: are they kidding?
£9.99: Installation. Installation!?! You just plug it in!
OH spent £18 of Iceland vouchers on meat for Decemberfest.
Then I spent an hour at the Doctors' Surgery getting an MOT. Doctor was shaking his head over bits of me like a dodgy car mechanic examining a 1982 Ford Cortina. Some bits of me passed the MOT, other bits are failures so I'm going to need some repairs. Further tests here I come, again.
Have a good day everyone.

I'm toying with the idea of changing my work hours. I currently compress my hours so I do 4 days 8.15-5.45 and have Wednesdays off. This was great when I had a child at home and could be mum. Now I've got two in school, I'm looking at the balance and cogitating... I could do Monday, Tuesday and Friday as long days and split the 8 hours 45 minutes from Thursday into 4 hours 25 on Wednesday and 4 hours 25 on Thursday (9.30 to 2pm). On both days I'd be able to take girls to school and pick up after school (and cook healthy dinner, help with homework etc). I'd lower my childcare costs (by £13 a week) but would increase car parking costs by £3 a week = gross saving £10 a week. In theory, I would have an hour on both days between getting home and picking girls up to do housework. Decisions...
Cat, what would the implications be during the school holidays? would you need to pay for 5 days a week? would this eat up the savings made in term time? or could you return to your current hours in the school holidays.
Personally if I could afford it I know which option I would go for, but it needs to work for you and your family, I hope you can find a solution.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

I'm sneaking on at work. I really shouldn't be but I've got nobody I can tell here, and I want to burst! I managed to rejig my November budget and I have just managed to pay the final balance of my DMP to Stepchange.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry, or scream or shout. I have completely skinted myself for the next 24 days but didn't want to wait a moment longer.
Congratulations, that is fantastic news :jFashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Hi everyone
:D
Thanks for your good wishes and congratulations. I don't mean to sound ungrateful but I don't think it's sunk in yet. I was actually quite tearful for a while and I don't know why. It just seems unbelievable that after 20 years I don't owe any money anywhere... It's been a strange old day that's for sure.
