Sue-UU pointed out I've been a bit quiet (and if you knew me, you'd know that was totally untrue :rotfl: so just dropping in to say hi.

The dog has been keeping us occupied, certainly more active and we're both sleeping more. Hubby is one of those who once he's awake, will get up and go downstairs regardless of what ridiculous hour it is. Now he sleeps right through to about 5am!! He's even overslept a couple of times so had no time to walk the dog before leaving for work (he starts at 7am). Our finances have of course taken a hit with the arrival of the dog as well. It's hard to believe it's only been 4.5 weeks! We've just sorted out her insurance today - ouch (but then all insurance is "ouch"), and we need to organise a kennel stay for a trip in November plus a bit of training as she's sadly lacking in obedience and recall. At 6, I doubt we can make much difference but we're going to at least try. I'm happy that she's house-trained and good in the car, as this last weekend she went to visit her doggy cousins for the first time at hubby's sister's, and as all hubby's relatives and most of his friends are down south, it's something she's going to have to get used to so that's a major result. Anyway, this weekend was an additional night in a dog-friendly hotel that we weren't expecting. Our actual visit was to go to one of hubby's oldest friends' surprise birthday party but of course being in the area meant calling into see family. As it turned out, the hotel charged hubby twice and tried to fob us off with a downgraded room from the one we booked, so he's just been refunded today and they only charged us £50 for the whole stay - so in the end we got a family room, free dog stay, free breakfast and an automatic upgrade (catch: if one is available) if we stay there again (nope, back to Travelodge - cheap and cheerful ftw).

Other than that, and the first anniversary of hubby's near-death experience, I haven't had many £2s to pot (and that's all I really count) but it's good to see so many people are still potting anything and everything merrily.

  • You sound like my housemate Sue, I'm just not very good at multitasking the ones that are due on the same week. So I procrastinate... Which makes it worse. If I do go ahead with the PhD I'll have to be more focused.
I've potted $5 this week. Any large(ish) amounts of money I have left I've been putting toward the credit card lately.

No change really to pot... However, a little bit of silvery stuff here and there is trickling into the tin.

We are currently touching up the living room walls so the pot is buried under a lot of stuff so I can get to it at the moment. Will pot when I can reach it.

Eleven pounds for me this week.
Keep up the potting everyone. Not long to go now. It will be all worth it come November. Every bit adds up.

You're so right with your words, Antomac, in fact I couldn't put it better myself!!! Great saving BTW! So keep saving everyone and listen intently to the words of Antomac!! :j

Jake's 5' 10" already, jakes-mum??!!!!! Flippin eck he's definitely going to be you Mk 2!!!
I'm so pleased young Lily's much more comfortable with the arches in, they've been a Godsend for our youngest DGD who, strangely enough had been suffering from awful pains in her knees - the type of supports she's been given have taken it all away already!! :D

£4.11 potted in a purse clear out from yesterday - didn't realise just how full my pot was getting, hearing that little thud rather than jingling as coins drop in now

Great work again, Hope, what a difference that satisfying thud makes! However, the more you add the greater the thud, go on try it!!!! ;)
Hi everyone sorry haven't been on broke in to jar for holiday but now back potting not breaking into it again till time till open it. Hope everyone is doing well with potting change :)

That's quite understandable, theresamum2, you've saved for it so of course you'd open your pot up! I hope you really enjoyed yourself. So, how much did you have - and - did you pop your Total on your siggie for me?!! Don't forget now! :naughty:

Well spotted with that £1 roadkill, Lynne!!! A lovely sum for free. Nice work with your regular tenner! Have a wonderful time away and....think of us often! :D

There you go see, Florence, it doesn't take long to make it to make your pot really weighty - lovely!!! :j It wants to get heavier and heavier and.........! ;)

Good saving, benten! Keeping the good work going I see.

You've done very well for yourself too, Chutney!!

Whatever was I saying about you keeping quiet, MrsShazbat.....?!! By eck you haven't arf made up for it since! :rotfl: Of course you're bound to have been super busy with your dog, I'm pleased he's settled in and no doubt he'll soon start behaving for you.
Excellent work the way the cost of the lodge turned out!!! Congratulations on DH's anniversary!! :T

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying to keep you motivated, TheCatandDogsMother, it's obviously necessary! Nice work with saving as well as putting some toward your CC! :T

Some of the silvery stuff is a lot better than nowt, Vicky, so don't knock it.
