  • Potted a screwed up £5 note this evening :T Found it in my coat pocket that I haven't worn for months.

Glad of the wind tonight as my dog decided he wanted a walk and I dragged my warmest coat out of the cupboard. :j Thank you pooch :A

Well done everyone on the amazing potting

  • C. Leave the 85p and pot the £3, Play silly (it usually works for me) :D A little honesty is better than none surely :rotfl:

Too late! 85p into the joint stuff towards mortgage and £3 into my pot lol. It will go towards joint stuff anyway but right now it feels like it's 'my' savings and he can't get into it. Mind you, at this rate I'm going to need a new pot! I did tell him I was potting when he asked what I was doing, he's careful not to leave any coins lying around these days as it will go straight into savings.

  • just dropping in to say that I have concluded that this is the friendliest thread of all :) a thought that just came to me after doing some browsing these last few days.

anyhoo.. £1 in the pot today.. i'm only putting £1, £2 and 50p's in my pot.. i have another little money box where I put 20's, 10's and 5ps. I decided to open that money box today and took the change to the bank to be cashed in as I was passing, it was a nice £20.. I would never of thought it! the money box is only small.. but instead of using it I made sure it went in the savings :) although separate from the pot it made me realise that the little coins do add up quickly too!

cattysmum, hope the month of feb and the many others go better for you!

muppets, hehe it's nice to find coins to pot, especially when they are surprise coins

evertheoptimist - nice username! i'm also having to review my spending habits, here's to a good few months of savings ahead.. i'm sure things will work out.. when in doubt, remember your username! :)

thecatsanddogsmother - the puppy has been busy! hopefully all ok, can see why you're considering a puppy pot! :)

    happy potting all !

Ooooooo, DH just left the room leaving £3.85 on the sofa that fell out of his pocket. Do I:

    A. Leave it for him
    B. Pot it and hope he doesn't notice
    C. Leave some as he's no idea what's there?!

I would have gone for D: Pot the lot and deny all knowledge of said money when asked where it was! :D

DH is so used to me nicking his change now, if my pocket is jingling he just rolls his eyes and says 'thats my change for the pot then is it?' and leaves me too it :D

glad your puppy is ok catsanddogsmother

Had a lovely £2 coin off DH last night from his pub run, had to laugh as his mate said 'ooo you've had a good night tonight, your round on happy hour, then your round again in the Legion (cheap beer in there ;)) and now a £2 coin!' DH went 'pfft, why would I be happy about a £2 coin, I only have to give it to the wife when I get home, so these bl**dy things cost me a fortune!' :rotfl:

Bless him, he's well trained, he wont dare spend a £2 coin :D

Right its food shopping day and I haven't even made my shopping list yet :o hopefully will have a few pennies later if I manage to get my arris out to the card shop to buy my sister a birthday card.

Just been dusting and rediscovered the money box we keep on the window sill full of coppers. 78p potted plus 15p in fives from MRM's bowl. Am excited to open the pot tomorrow and bank the money. Have money bags at the ready.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

  • £1.50 potted this morning. DD asked if I would pick her dry cleaning up and said I could keep the change for going. Felt like I was 10 years old again :rotfl:
