    Morning all.

I am hoping to rejoin you all for SPC 9. I went awol last year as life got in the way but I need to get back in the swing of things again.

I def need to rethink my money situation as I'm on mat leave (now have a 4 week old baby girl as well as our 2 and half yr old boy) and am hoping to turn my initial 9 month leave into a year and at this point I definitely don't have the money for it.

I've also been a bit slack generally and overspending left, right and centre. And we moved house so pennies are tighter than ever.

Hope you'll have me back Sue and all. x

    Helloooooooooooo Potterssssssssssssssss

Been a bit AWOL as I've got the in laws staying at the minute :D have been telling MIL all about my new project of homemade knickers and homemade ladies items :rotfl: I think she thinks I've lost the plot a bit . . . I'm well known in my family for trying to save as much as humanly possible on every thing I buy but obviously this is a step too far :rotfl:

She'll understand when I've perfected them and sent some up for my SIL and nieces :D I will be practicing pants today as my great niece has taken a liking to my nieces old doll that wee's when you give it a drink, they have been drying the disposable doll nappies on the radiator so I said 'well why don't I just make her some cloth doll nappies with Velcro fastening, then they will dry better and if she does give the doll juice at some point you can wash them?' :D any excuse to use my overlocker :D:D

Is Sue poorly again? I can't remember seeing a post from her :( get well soon Sue if you are feeling rough :(

Some awesome ideas to work round the penny a day challenge :D good luck to those that attempt it, still not for me as TBH all my change goes in the pot anyway so I'd just be taking some of my potting money and putting it in another jar :rotfl: might do it next year when all the work in the house is done and I've got more spare money, will do it backwards taking out each months amount out of the bank and putting it in a separate 'penny a day jar' so I'm not tempted just to snaffle pennies off my potting money  PLUS that gives me the added bonus I get to make an official 'penny a day' jar :j . . . I'll just need to buy myself one of those vinyl cutters to make the words on the side, wonder how I can convince DH it's a vital purchase along with the embroidery machine I'm currently reminding him I can't live without

Oh in other news, the hole in my kitchen ceiling that was made the last time my in laws were here has now been boarded up . . . But I now have no bath  and probably won't have one for 2 weeks , but nay worry my SPC friends, I will not be sitting whiffy in the corner! We DO still have a working shower :D

In potting news, I have a lovely £2 coin in my purse ready for the pot, haven't really been out so no change, do need to go get another ball of chunky wool as the wrapping on the first ball totally lied! 1 ball will make one ladies hat! Yay! Thinks me, I'm making a child's hat, so plenty of wool! Pfft! Halfway through and I've run out!

Afternoon Potters, hope everyone enjoyed the weekend.

We were duped by our DD and her husband - "Come on Saturday, have a takeaway and stay over" they said. "Lovely" we replied. "Can you bring the concrete mixer and angle grinder too?" they asked. Hmmm.....DH came off worst, mixing cement and laying a new patio. I, on the other hand, had a lovely time catching up with DD.

Anyway, £1.72 to pot tonight when I get home.

A very good afternoon all SPCers! I hope you've all had a really lovely weekend and are now enjoying the 1st day of the week. Maybe not, I know it depends on your job, boss etc. For all those who are poorly or a little low for any reason here are some {{{hugs}}} to help you through, and get you well soon. :grinheart

Well done with your weekly £10er, Lynne! A lot warmer up in Scotland for you now I bet.
Sue it's not as lame as it seems.
1st Jan I save 1p, 2nd Jan 2p and so on to the last day of the year when I'll pot £3.65. I backdated mine to start mid Nov but I'm banging the money in once a week rather than daily and I'm hoping to bung some extra days in so I finish at the beginning of Nov and can include it in my spc count up.

Ahh, I see what you mean now, mrs-moneypenny, thanks for explaining it, though I see what jakes-mum means, as I too would struggle like mad come December. Good luck with it.

That a girl, Dragon Lily, you're doing well....

    ...you too, honey.

No need to ask if you've had a good weekend, 32b3! ;) Savings too eh!

Well done, Brass_Triumphant. BTW. Have taken your name from your work? I'm curious because of what you said last week.

I've been potting little and often, £3 gone in just now as I emptied my purse of its change.

That's the way it's saved best, Seaotter, as we barely notice it going. Keep that up and you'll be so happy in November! :j

Your poor pup, TheCatsandDogsMother, it wasn't the best of weeks for the poor little fallah was it. Good potting.

Good for you, Westie, a great way to pot a bit clearly. :D

A good idea in potting the £2 coins, Fairyfingers, they might be big for your purse but they're perfect for your pot. ;)

You're bringing your little DS up in a great way, Tizzi! Good luck with the 1p challenge.
Thanks Sue. He has been found guilty and we are just awaiting sentencing next month. It is a relief that he will now be monitored and I hope nobody else has gone through it at his hands in the past. This case was relatively minor but still hard to handle.

What a relief, MrsC....tobe!! :T I'm so very happy for you that it's gone the right way and no case of justice not being done. A good job now when the sentence is passed. I just hope anyone else who was a victim will see he got his just desserts! :) Well done with spending notes!

Great going with your table top sale, carbootcrazy, the savings also! Sensible handling with the float btw.
Have potted my £10 Lottery winnings :j

Need to pop to Tesco Opticians and plan to leave my purse at home :D Therefore removing temptation to buy unnecessary items

Great news about your lottery win, 12 month challenge!! :T Good to hear it's potted safely for you. Great thinking in going out without cash! :D

Typical of how money works out, plumduff, some weeks we're far better off than others, you're not alone though. ;)

You're saving well, lexbubbles, keep it going.

So long as you're happy, Val, I hope it's a good haul. :D You're right as this month does seem to have flown by.

I've had no internet for the last two days.:mad: Supposed to be having someone come on Tuesday to fix it but it's come back on all by itself. :D Don't know how long for though. :(

We presumed it had to be the weather, Modesty, as we had no internet on Saturday either, but yesterday and today is fine again. I hope your stays ok. Thanks so much for the wishes.

    Good for you, MrsShazbat!!

It's wonderful to see you 'home' with us, ETO!!! :j I've even sorted you out a new No 124 so I hope that answers your question. :DMany congratulations to you both on the birth of your baby girl!!!!!!! :A Isn't it wonderful to have one of each!!! I hope everything works out for you and that all goes to plan. I'll reply to your PM asap. Lovely to see you.

Sounds as though you had a terrific weekend, Helen, I'm so chuffed for you. :D Thanks a lot, in time she'll hopefully be a good deal better. Very wise with your savings, far better to take it slow and be sure.

Nooooooooooo, jakes-mum, your MIL thinks you've lost the plot??? I don't believe it, [STRIKE]we've known it for years[/STRIKE] we'd never have thought anything like that here, but you know us. You'll win her over in time when she's stuck in a pair!!! :rotfl: You've STILL got that HOLE??????? Love a duck what's DH been doing?? Though, you've just said it all, you have a working shower so that's what keep it being stalled, just like a neighbour of ours! Not to worry, at least you've still saved!!!!!! :j

oooooooh young'ns are such crafty blighters, siju, dress ip up to draw you in , then......comes the "Will you do"..."can so and so borrow Dad's...xxxx"??????? Anyway, so long as YOU had a great time with DD then - what can we say! :rotfl:

Sorry not to have been with you over the weekend, folks, but DH & I have been taking up the carpet and vinyl in our kitchen/diner and then had it all replaced. Looks really lovely now and very pleased with it!!!! :j

Have yourselves a good week, Potters. :grinheart ....and don't let your pots starve!

I know! who would ever think I had lost the plot! :rotfl: though she's now dying to see these pants as i've been raving about them so long :D See I knew she'd want a pair :rotfl:

Just to let you know (as I know how desperate you were to be kept abreast of the pant making situation!) that the doll nappies have been a success, the first one was perfect . . . unfortunately I was a tad optimistic with my sizing, but it was still a very good nappy :D second one was made with more material at the back but could do with a bit more shaving off the tabs that velcro to the front, will make a third one tomorrow and they should be perfect :D

Now just to make a rucksack and a shopping bag before MIL goes home on wednesday morning  ohh and finish off the hat that I STILL haven't bought the wool for :o

Potting news, I had another lovely £2 coin and a teeny tiny bit of shrapnel :D DD coerced her Bampy out of all his loose change and has put that in her own pot, plus the £2 her Nanny gave her and the odd bit of change I had in her money envelope and now has over £6 in her little money box :D just hope this doesn't mean she's going to stop putting her roadkill in MY pot  :rotfl:

P.S Congrats on your little girl ETO
