Hellooooooooooooooooo Pottersssssssssssssssssss!
Ooooo just been to Dunelm and got meself 3 huge storage boxes with individual holes inside to store all my christmas decs inAs alot of mine are glass we have been playing a bit of Russian roulette with them storing them in old shoe boxes inside a plastic bag  BUT finally I managed to get into Dunelm when they put their boxes on 1/2 price (wasn't paying £12 a box! who do they think I am??) one is unfortunately cracked, but our other Dunelm in the city still had some in stock so a quick click and collect later I have 2 on lay away to pick up (one to swap with the one thats damaged and one to keep it company as I figured I could always use the spare to store my craft stuff
)
Well its a cheeky pizza day today as I just can't be arrised to cook anything! so change from that will be in the pot momentarily

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I've put £20 in left over from my Christmas budget and some change I found laying around. Although I'm sure I spotted another penny somewhere, I'll have to go through the junk cupboard and hope none of the kids spotted it first and claimed it for themselves!SPC -500

Evening fellow potters
I finally gave in today and purchased a real sealed pot. I couldn't resist it. (Xmas prezzie to myself) A shiny new sealed tin. It was in the sale for £2 reduced from £3.99 ( that's what the stickers said anyway) :rotfl:
It is also a larger version as I am being very optimistic for 2016
Anyway I received 2 X £2 coins in amongst my change, so in the new pot they went :T

You can both gladly join us, abimonster02 and cath777. A very warm welcome to you! It's lovely to have you. :grinheart Have fun saving and enjoy the banter when posting your conquests. You'll find your numbers below this welcome message. Please read through the 1st Post as it'll let you know exactly what to do with the challenge. PS. We always empty our pots and declare our savings in November, please make a note of this year's date: 3rd Nov.
Please also subscribe to the thread by clicking on "Thread Tools" (lower green bar) and clicking "Subscribe to this thread"...or you may lose us! To put your SPC No on, go to "Quick Links" (right side of top green bar), click and then click on "Edit Signature" and you're away.
*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
abimonster02 - Please note that your new No is 053. Sadly, the previous owner has not returned, but if she does she's welcome to re-join and be given a new No. You've really lurked THAT LONG!!!! Flippin eck, I've heard us women can take a while making up our minds, but.........!!
cath777 - Please note that your new No is 056. Sadly, the previous owner has not returned, but if she does she's welcome to re-join and be given a new No. All the best with your finances, budget well and save proudly and you'll get there!
Another gold star for 2 lovely ful welcomes, Kerry. :staradmin Many thanks for the help. Thanks for the warm welcome. Have updated my sig. I have a jar that I use for spare change to which I added some bits yesterday and already have £2.70. I will find something that I can seal though. I aim to put in there any spare change that does not equate to a pound in total. I am also a member of the no toiletry buying challenge and am going to put £1. In my pot for every full sized item I use up plus 50p for each travel size and 20 p for any sample sachets. I keep saying that I'll do this but then dig back into the jar when I need change. I think posting on this thread will stop me digging back into it.
It sounds as though you have it all worked out, VALM, but don't forget that anything saved on other MSE challenges etc can be added to your SPC declaration in November! Don't forget to use a Holding Pot!!!! See my 1st post on page 1, that should help a lot.plumduff55 wrote: »Hi, Thanks for the warm welcome to this challenge. I have just emptied the change from my purse into a jam jar and now have saved £1.84 towards next christmas.
I have allocated myself pocket money each week so will empty any money left in my purse at the end of the week.
If I underspend on petrol or food etc I will also add this to the pot at the end of each month.
I worked out my Christmas budget yesterday and spent approximately £450 this year. I have cut this budget to £300 for next year as I should be able to make more presents and find better bargains now that I am not working.
The very best of luck to you, plumduff55, though I doubt you'll need it as you have so many great ideas to put into practice, you'll get there!
Another day with some potting, sunshine, another day to be proud of yourself. No problem with me just suggesting my autistic son will "get better" when he gets to become an adult, people really have no idea and should keep silly comments to themselves especially when they are relatives grrrr!
sorry xx
Please don't apologise, Louise, we all need to give vent at times, but if it helps you then you vent away whenever it's necessary! It's amazing just how ignorant folk can be towards most problems that they don't fully understand; or were they possibly gently trying to console you? Perhaps not or you wouldn't be so hurt. It sounds to me as though frasersmum has hit the nail squarely on the head with her thoughts "I sometimes think that its because they are under the false impression that they will stop being your responsibility once they reach 18."
Very sensibly thought through, frasersmum! :grinheartThanks and well potted...again!
Very good potting, kezbabybabe, I see you too are trying to help in any which way you can - keep it going!
You're doing so well, savingpennies, stick that IOU in a Holding Pot that way you won't be able to forget.
Oh dear, Saver-upper, it sounds as though you and you DH needed to let off steam a bit. Though it's a wonder it hasn't happened before with all the pressure you've both been under, and all that is still to come. Just remember that the end will soon be in sight and all that hard work won't have been in vain. {{{Hugs}}} to you both and don't forget to hug each other..often!:kisses3: Great potting!
frogletina wrote:I have £60 left which I could spend during the next few days.
Normally I would be pleased to have this much money, (I have January's money in advance), but I am reluctant to do so now as I want to see how much I will be able to put in my sealed pot.
It's so addictive
Keep hanging on to it, Frogletina! :j You've done incredibly well since you started SPC, and I can't see you ever stopping somehow!
I'm pleased you've done well with your Dunelm boxes, jakes-mum, me too with great savings on curtains from them too!!! :j <<"Have a fantabulous bank holiday monday evening my beautiful friends, your all gorgeous and special and just . . umm . . . like chocolate covered toffees">>
I take it by your words above that...you're stuck to us - OR - that we're stuck with you!!!!! :rotfl: Either way..it's just wonderful sticky buddy!!! :kisses3:
Very well done, Ruthie!!!Always get to any cash before the kiddies!
Well done on your good buy, 12 month challenge, all the best on a fruitful 2016!
It sounds as though you go to work just to save, Westie, surely that can't be so!!!! :rotfl: Keep it up!
£6.50 after buying curtains today, plus 3p roadkill outside Dunelms!Have a lovely Tuesday, SPCers! As always....keep those pots fed!

Well, I'm absolutely gobsmacked by how much some of you are managing to pot at regular intervals, especially as it's such an eye-wateringly expensive time of the year:eek:. Brilliant:A
Is anyone else old enough to remember the days when we were excited to find a brand new shiny penny (the big 'old' pre-decimal penny) in our Christmas stocking? In case anyone thinks I had a deprived childhood:eek:, we had a pillowcase full of stuff but there was always a penny and a tangerine at the bottom:rotfl:.
Not been out to any shops since before Christmas so no change to pot. Maybe tomorrow:j. I'd have been glad of a shiny penny on Christmas morning though to feed my starving pot.0 -
I know I haven't been on here for a few days, but I haven't been shopping to accumulate any change, oh and I haven't found anymore around the house. I will have to get some milk tomorrow so will put some in then.

My daughter gives me a stocking now each year, and she usually puts a pound coin in it (I used to have a penny and a tangerine too as a child)
This year she gave me 2 x 2 Lira coins and a 1 lira coin, which is slightly more than a pound. I wonder if that will be her new tradition. Of course I won't put that in my sealed pot but I have a purse with Turkish Lira in it for my first holiday to Turkey next year, and I think I have enough in there for all the spending money I will need.
What with that and my birthday and Christmas gift money fully funded for next year from this year's sealed pot I'll be off to a good start.
