Morning all, been a bit lazy so far today, got up at 9 dd is still in bed, I let her sleep in during the holidays wont hurt at all.
One load in the wm, should get it dry today as the sun is shining for once :j
It was my sisters birthday (40) on tuesday and her oh has whisked her off to prague for the week leaving me to arrange a supprise party for her on sunday  there were 30 people coming and i ordered 50 burgers, 50 sausages and 30 lamb kebabs, I have now heard that there are at least 20 more so will have to go out and get more meat, does any one have any idea how much on average people will eat ?

Not sure what to do today it gets harder as dd gets older, as they do not want to do childish things, she is 12 going on 16

    Toast and marmite for lunch
Not sure for lunch crackers and cheese maybe ?
Roast chicken stuffing roasties and 3 veggies for dinner Yum

A quick question on stuffing, I have not cooked it before as I dont like it but dd and oh love it so have decided to have a go, I want to stuff the chicken with it, silly question but do I cook the stuffing before putting it in the chicken, i have bought a packet one, do I mix it with water ?

Congrats to all those who passed exams, whatever the grade well done
    Mrs Mix good luck today.
Frogga kept thinking of you last night when watching eastenders Shirley eh ?
she really is a hard faced woman, dont think you have to much to worry about there (sorry but it really made me laugh) ;)

Morning all :D I havent been on here for a while but I have a day off work and a very mucky flat so I need a kick up the butt to get it done!

    Plans for the day are:

Pack bag (going away tomorrow morning)
    Hoover and Dust
    Change bedsheets
    Do ironing mountain
    Do last load of alundry
    clean bathroom

and finally - do another hair dye as im out tonight and the one I did yesterday isnt as brown or as dark as wanted :D Anyone ever used Boots Botanics Bitter Chocolate? I got one half price at boots so im thinking that should come out a lovely dark brown - Its a semi though so unlikely to do any damage!

Ive so far today been doing the 'admin', Ive just changed bank accounts and have been contacting various people to change the details and whatnot, and have written a few letters of complaint  .

Totally unrelated - but i rang the docs yesterday as i need an appointment that isnt an emergency but needs sorting out - and the closest I could get in is Wednesday!! Ive got to take a morning off work to go to it which is a complete pain. Ive had a mole suddenly appear on the back of my leg and it doesnt look good. :o Even the cat doesnt like it  Oh well, a couple of days wont hurt!

Ok, time to start the cleaning! Have a lovely day all!

    Jo x

P.S - Who am I kidding - im having another cuppa tea first!

    Morning everyone :)

Very sunny in Folkestone today..so will get the bedding washed and hung out to dry.

I'm just up the big hill from you Jacksmummy - can see it's sunny your way - but it's grey in the other direction.

Have just emptied DD's pool - it's now hung over the garden table and chairs to try and dry off before it goes away for the year - washed out all my recycling bags in the pool water too - they're all hanging on the line to dry off.

Kitchen has been swished and swiped, floors been swept and dw is on - just need to give the fridge a clean out tonight when I make dinner.

Living room needs a dust and hoover but that will wait until tomorrow, then I won't need to do it again before going away on Monday :j

Well done to all those who did well in their exams - I don't really remember any excitement about getting my results - I'd already given up school and got a full time job so they didn't really matter (typically I got great grades and wish I'd stayed on at school now)

Need to pop into town tomorrow - I got 5 library books out last week to take away with me - but I've read all but one of them - ooops - need to pick up a new waterproof jacket too as mines more jacket than waterproof.

Hope you all have a great day - I'm off to round up the kids and go find some blackberries before the grey stuff gets any closer.

I'm at work at the moment and my thanks button isn't working ...

Not feeling great, slept in a bit, but got to work anyway as I have quite a lot to do. I'll be nipping to town at lunchtime to pick up an application pack for a passbook based savings account for my pin money savings. I'm going to open it with the cash I have left over from August as September starts today with today's pay packet. Nothing grand, although anything would earn better interest than it sitting in a pot on my mantelpiece, and out of temptation way.

On the way home I'll drop in to Tesco to do my first weekly shop for the month. I have a budget of £30 and have my list prepared.

Then I'll drug myself up and have an early night.

Hope exam results weren't too traumatic in the end.

EDIT: Would you believe it? The thanks button is working now ...

    Morning everyone,

Welcome back Aussie Lass...wondered where you were...are you not glad of that rain??

Congratulations to all with exam results.

JuliaP and Tooties....glad you're both feeling a little better, enjoy your lunch out Tooties, the ironing will wait.

Csarina....agree on the lack of manners around to-day, never mind the awful violence...could do a rant on the subject of children getting too many material things and the idea that they must have what they want....NOW, but don't type fast enough to finish to-day...maybe I'm just an old grump!

PenPen....any chance of a few cakes in the post, they look wonderful!

Ellie...I would be spitting tacks if that happened and cat, dog and OH would all suffer some verbal abuse...and OH would replace all damaged goods at his own expense.

Going shopping in a few minutes and am taking the €42.69 I have left of this month's budget, knowing that that is all I have in my purse will be a great help in concentrating the mind....don't need much really but OH and DGS2 are coming too so I will have to watch them.

See you all later, have a good day

  • redruby, what else are you having with your meat; that seems like enough meat to me for 50 people. Add salads, veggies, maybe baked potatoes, buns, cheese on burgers etc. you should have enough. Never mind the desserts?

    Thanks odds-n-sods,
I have done the same sort of party for BIL for his 50th, they are all builders and bikers, the salad just does not get eaten:rolleyes: , so i was not going to do any, just meat and lots of different breads with crisps and dips etc, jacket spuds would be a good idea, can you cook these on the bbq ? perhaps i could start them off in the microwave at hone and finish on bbq ? They are good meat eaters and I do not want to run out, perhaps I should get just a bit more
    thanks again
    xx
  • Morning all! We're back from our holiday in Italy, it was 34 degrees there, couldn't believe it when we got off the plane in London, WHERE'S the summer gone???

Holiday was fine except that OH had his camera stolen :(, as he's a manic photographer that meant he lost all 300 or so pictures. Naturally it was my fault :o so it's a bit tense round here although he is having fun researching new cameras in the hope that the insurance pays out (I'm not hopeful, they seem reluctant to pay out for anything these days).

I came back with a HUGE bite on my calf and have just been to show my doctor who squeaked when she saw it and hastily prescribed lots of pills. It's very itchy and swollen, looks lovely ;)

Congratulations to those getting exam results today, and previously, you're all stars :T

Oh and Redruby yes you mix packet stuffing with hot water, it should give you instructions on the packet, just stuff it into the back end of the chicken and make sure you give it about 20 mins extra in the oven to ensure that it's cooked all the way through. Good luck.

Am feeling fit and healthy (apart from the leg :rotfl: ) after our holiday so it's been easy to get back into the swing of OSing (apart from the three solid hours of ironing I did yesterday, now THAT wasn't fun).

Today's menu: Toast and marmite for brekky
    Lunch: cashew and watercress pilau
Dinner: HM plum tomato and black olive pizza (as long as I make sure that I put the paddle into the BM properly. Made a 'quick' loaf on our return and ended up carving a hole in the bottom of a very strange looking loaf to try and retrieve the paddle which had come off in the process. :o )

Very grey and overcast here today so I'm staying in and doing some cooking.

    Have a good day everyone
