They're really simple. The ones I had last night were using up some sauce I had in the freezer. It freezes beautifully and I'm sure it would work with pasta too.

    Patatas Bravas

Peel and cut the potatoes in 2cm cubes. I parboil for a few minutes, drain, spray with frylight then cook on a baking tray in the oven for about 30 minutes. So that's just as you'd do for SW chips or roast potatoes.

    1. fry a chopped onion until soft (I start mine off in microwave) add crushed clove of garlic (or lge tsp of lazy garlic), 0.5 tsp crushed chillies and 1 tsp of smoked paprika. Cook, stirring for a minute.
    2. add can of chopped tomatoes and half tsp of sweetener. Simmer for about 20 minutes then stir in tbsp. of balsamic vinegar and cook for another minute.
    3. Put sauce in a bowl and add cooked potatoes. Scatter with parsley to make it look pretty.
I follow the recipe fairly closely as I have all the ingredients in the cupboard but I'm sure it would work with chilli powder or unsmoked paprika and without balsamic.

Thanks for the recipe Maman, it looks yummy. I've got all those ingredients so I will give them a go soon and let you know how I get on.

Was it the one released last year? I wasn't that impressed with it, you could probably get all the recipes off the internet without spending your hard earned cash.. other people may have a different opinion though :D

It says 2015 on eBay but I'm not sure. I can't eat anything with gluten in anyway so I might not be able to have most of the recipes. I just don't want to mess up SW over Christmas as I STILL haven't lost the weight I lost last Christmas lol. If the recipes aren't great there is no point in getting it. As you say, I don't want to waste my wages!

It's a horrible day here in the North West rain, rain rain.:(
But, I am not downhearted I have lost 2lb yippee :T .not far to go now .. :)

Hugs to all who have lost and bigger hugs to STS or gainers.😀😀😀👍

    Congratulations Wizkid :j !

And well done to everyone who has lost weight this week or stayed the same and keep going to those of you who have unfortunately gained.

Oh dear B17c, very sorry to hear your news about your Gran. It must have been a shock for you and your family and you are in my thoughts.

Things went a bit pear shaped for me yesterday with SW. After being good all day, I went to the cinema and had some popcorn and a cup of pick and mix. I'm sure I went WELL over my syns.

Today is a new day though. Sunday is usually my treat day but I'm trying to cut back today and thats making me feel a little miserable. And that makes me feel silly given how much suffering is going on around us at the moment.

    Menu Today;

B: Toast (HeB), Lurpak Lighter (2 syns) Tea with one sugar (1 syn)

L: Left over spicy baked bean lasagne (this was GORGEOUS!).

D: Roast Chicken, Gravy (2 syns), SW Roast Potatoes, Swede and Carrot Mash, Brussels Sprouts. Mullerlight.

Fruit for snacks and free Cauliflower Pakoras. Milk for HeA.

    First weigh in tomorrow .

No rain here today for a change, but still ridiculously high winds. I need to pop out but am putting it off because of it.

So I can't do SW style potatoes (chips, roasties, etc) properly. Tried loads of different techniques but they're just rubbish compared to proper oil. Thinking I'll just syn real oil when I have them, as it's not very often anyway.

    Back on SP today.

Breakfast - Weetabix (HEB1) and berries. No P, but that seems to be OK on the sample menus if having a HE.
Lunch - Bacon and eggs with a big side of veggies
Dinner - Sausage, swede and carrot mash, 1-2 syns for gravy
Pudding - Strawberries and vanilla quark (1 syn). Quite fancy Eton Mess actually so if I do pop out, will add on a few syns for some meringue.

Still need to use my other HEs. Maybe cheese on toast as a snack!
Has anyone got the Slimming World Christmas recipe book? I'm just wondering if it's worth buying off ebay or not....

I got it free with a countdown. Honestly wouldn't have paid for it. I'm not that into Christmas which may sway my view a bit, but didn't really see anything I'd want to make just because.

This year's Christmas book is exactly the same as last year's.

I bought the Christmas book back in 2010 and the current recipes haven't changed much since then anyway.

I wouldn't bother with it as there's not much in it. You can get plenty of recipes on line. Doesn't necessarily have to be a SW specific recipe you can just use your normal recipes and change things like Frylight for oil.

  • B17c - sorry to hear about your gran

    Well done to the losers!

miss_independent - I got the xmas book free with a countdown. There are a few nice recipes in it but I probably wouldn't have bought it.

As far as xmas goes, I think the best thing is to remember that its a day or two at most. Last year I had only just joined SW again and I still managed to lose a lb over xmas week. I basically ate SW friendly all xmas eve except for a slice of cake and glass of wine in evening. Then xmas day I made most of the dinner elements SW friendly. Just bread sauce, pigs in blankets and trifle that weren't. Had a nice but light breakfast and a few picky bits in evening. Boxing day I usually do a buffet so that's probably the hardest day for me but I still got a few SW friendly options in. For me the killer would be alcohol, but given that I will have a 4 month old to deal with this year I won't be going crazy on that front!

I can post a few recipe ideas if there are things you have in mind.

Me too. While I can take or leave sweets in general I've always loved the stuff. I scoured Aldi on Friday looking for the marzipan hearts but they don't seem to be available this year.:( They had bars but not sure I could trust myself. Maybe a Christmas treat.

I bought 4 marzipan bars from L*dl few weeks ago.. there's only 1 left :(:o

And I wonder why I can't lose weight :rotfl:

Meant to say maman, I put a link to your patatas bravas recipe on the front page :D if anyone posts recipes and wants me to add a link then feel free to let me know, bit scatty and I don't always think to do it..

Lily, sorry about your gain, it can be frustrating but if you're sure you've followed plan then it may be hormones or your meds playing you up! The only thing I can suggest is have you drank enough water? Hopefully you'll get a big loss next week1

I'm off to make jelly.. thanks for the idea Denise :D

Hi everyone, mind if I join? I was following slimming world in the run up to my wedding. I never quite got to my target, but was still quite a way from my starting weight. I've just come back from our honeymoon to America with an extra 7lbs that weren't there before. Weighed myself on Wednesday pretty much as soon as we walked through the door and saw the gain, have been on plan since then and can definitely tell that I've lost something since then. My usual weigh day in Monday so will see what happens tomorrow.

Now I'm to enjoy my syn free roast chicken dinner; this time last week I was sitting in a bar in downtown Buffalo eating my weight in Buffalo wings with dressing and fries!

Quoting my own menu as I forgot the milk on breakfast - I don't use much, so 1/2 HEA. Still left enough cheese for a lovely snack though :money:
