What are you having for Christmas dinner this year?

I know, it's way too early to think about Christmas but depending on where you're buying your meat from you may need to get in early to get one the size you want so it is worth starting to think about it

One year I ordered way too late from my local butcher and all the turkeys they had left were huge so I ended up spending more than I needed to! (This year I've learnt my lesson, checked in advance and they need orders in in November!)
Could you do with a Money Makeover?

    Turkey
First time ever I'm "at a friend's for dinner". Turkey crown and stuffing and brussels + 2-3 veggies.... won't know what it'll be until I get there.

Usually have: turkey crown, nut roast, 3 stuffings, yorkshires, roasties, mash, cauli, broccoli, carrots, peas, brussels, roast parsnips, a baked onion, small sausages (no bacon round them) and gravy.

When you've only ever had Xmas dinner "with family" then over 40-50 years it grows and grows to include everybody's "must have" over time.

If I were home alone it'd have been: a turkey breast, couple of frozen yorkshires, some steamed veggies (cauli, broccoli, carrots, peas, brussels), frozen roast spuds, frozen roast parsnips, stuffing, small sausages, gravy. The nut roast is a "special/handmade" and it's a lot of effort so I'd not be making that.

We had venison and a turkey crown last year between 9 of us (with plenty of left overs). It will probably be something similar this year.

I don't understand why the nation goes nuts over what is just another roast meal.

I'd be happy with a vegan curry lovingly cooked by someone who's not me :D

That's why we don't have turkey, chicken or pork at Christmas. They are the cheaper joints of meat available, therefore we have them lots during the year. Beef, lamb and venison are more expensive so we have them less often and they are therefore more of a treat and more special.
Also for a normal roast we will have roast potatoes and 2 veg. At Christmas we will have roast potatoes, 2 types of stuffing, pigs in blankets, bread sauce and about 6 types of veg
