  • Morning guys  CCL look at your sig :j Wow amazing! Congratulations for being so darn near to DF! :T

Bob glad to hear you are doing better now.

    legomum nice haul there :D

Well nothing much to report for yesterday except we stayed in all day and I did some more gardening and finally you can see some progress :j it's been a lot of work needed and with each task it go messier and messier! But finally yesterday you could see it starting to look better :D

Today's plans are to take dgd swimming so none of us get cabin fever!

All meals from stores. Something out of freezer for dinner

    List some bits on fleabay

Might sort through my clothes pack away things that don't fit/won't be worn until spring

    Die my hair

Might go out for a jog later...

Oh I got the job on Friday. It's only a 6 month contract for 8 hours a week (Fri & Sat 6-10pm) which will cover my contribution to the joint fund and pay for petrol which will mean I will stop eating into my savings and will allow me a bit more time to work out what I want to do and get another job that's p/t /right for me. It is back in the field that I want to go into further study so feel that the role is exciting - it's working at a crisis cafe for Mind - but not entirely sure about working every Fri & Sat but it's not like we go out very often anymore!

    Morning all :)
Glad to see you back Bob :)
    Wow, CCL, so close :T
Congrats on the job DNMS :)

Well, no Trick or Treaters here last night :( I usually light a candle and leave the outside light on till just before 7 for the little ones who come around with their parents. We had lots the year before last, a few last year and none at all this. Perhaps the pumpkin code Bob mentioned is a new thing. Not sure I can be bothered to carve pumpkins now though! So I have loads of sweets in the house - some can go in the car for long journies, and the rest will keep for Christmas I guess.

    List for today:
Picked a few raspberries from the garden and had those, together with a left over half banana, with my breakfast porridge and yogurt :)
Continue to use up moisturiser from cut open tube :)
Quick hoover round needed (might get OH to do this!)
    Quick bathroom clean
Make a game pie for lunch, as DS is coming round :) I have the filling ready prepared from the freezer, so not too much effort needed there :)
Washing out on line to dry if only this fog will clear. Not the first foggy autumn morning for us, as a river runs through our town, and the mist seems to hang around it some mornings.
    Bit or ironing later
Gardening later if the weather turns out nice
    Walk and groom pup
Meal plan for week - I had an expensive end to last month, with vehicle tax and insurance, plus other costs, so am determined to keep food spends low this month to try to compensate a bit :)

Right, better make a start or DS will be here and I won't have done anything!

    Hi everyone :hello:

Hey YorkshireLass - hope you are feeling ok and your mind is still not on overdrive... It's so hard, isn't it? When my OH was out of work I used to be up before 6 every day. People would think I was just an early riser but it was just because I'd wake up before 5.30 every day worrying :o When you wake up in the middle of the night you could try some breathing techniques to help focus your mind. They really work for me - try googling 'equal ratio breathing' - it could be good for you.

Oooh DNMS - that is awesome that you got the job!!! :T Sounds like perfect hours for you atm. Excellent news!

I'm crocheting my friend's baby a dress. Yarn was £1 and have a lovely free pattern https://goo.gl/ZefZmE

Got yoga later - me doing and also me teaching. Hoping to get 8 this evening.

Doing a meal plan and sorting lunches for working week.

Will be back later with some more I'm sure.

    xxx

Every now and then I wonder if I am going slightly mad. 16 months ago my salary was £35k now I'm working 8 hours a week and ebaying/mystery shopping to get by. Part of me wants a simpler life and then another part wonders if I've completely lost the plot?!

DNMS - I can identify with that feeling from when I took voluntary redundancy. Cutting our joint income in half would not have been possible without embracing the simpler life.
2026's challenges: 1) To rebuild our Emergency Fund to at least £5k.
    2) To read 50 books (12/50) 3) The Re-Shrinking of Foxgloves 8.1kg/30kg
Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!

Not at all - it's just your priorities that have changed. Just think your old salary allowed you to remortgage etc and now you can get the simpler life you want with DGD. Maybe when she is older your priorities will change again and then you'll look for a different kind of job. xx

CCL - well done on getting your debt down :) It feels so good the closer you get :)
Bob - Nice to see you're back again :)
DNMS - Congratulations on getting the job!! So happy for you

No Trick Or Treaters at mine last night either, think it could be because I got home quite late, I live in the middle of no where and it was really foggy too. When I drove through the village after work I saw a couple of people still out and saw one house had a party so looks like everyone stayed in the village.
I lived in a town last year (not far from a sixth form) and didn't have any last year either. Maybe the Pumpkin thing is the new thing? haha I know when I was younger mum would put a sign on the door to tell people not to knock when me and my brother were babies as she didn't want people to wake us up.

At work again today but normal uniform no more cats until next year! In holiday mode now last shift at work before two weeks off (rather excited!!!!). Sent hubby with a list of last minute bits to get in town so he took me into work today to save my fuel ;)

Hope you're all doing well :)

    Today's list:
    Daily Bits
    - FPL
    - Lucky Phone
    - Blog Post
    - Survey(s)
    - B from stores (Didn't bring any lunch to work again :o but having dinner at mums, hopefully, so will save a bit there :))

    Extra's
    - Complain to Sky
    - Change Clubcard address
    - Read gym contract and see if there is anyway out (I now live over 30 mins away)
    - Sort out bedrooms
    - Start book folding for Christmas presents I'll need to take to family in a few weeks.
    - Do a bit more packing/list of what I need to take
    - Load of washing on

Anyway hope you all have a lovely day :) xx
    Read my diaryHere :)

    Proactive MSE-ing
    • Attempt to make firelighters using old candlewax & revolting teabags - still to be done
    • All meals from stores
    • Was going to give the wee bit macaroni & cheese remaining from the other night's tea to dogs for a treat - but had this for lunch myself yesterday - sorry dogs - you have bones :)
    • Need to take photos of wonky mattress & send to Ikea to complain to get a replacement
    • Wanted a good digital camera for a while - found our old one in a drawer :o so am trying to resuscitate this
    Winter prep

    • Make up Black out box & put in newly cleared space in living room unit (I have all the stuff - it's just not all together) - still to be done
    Christmas prep
    • Cheating but had brilliant idea for aunt's Christmas - she doesn't have a CD / radio any more but has CDs - on Christmas list for her :)

      Round tuit
    • Go to stamp buying shop locally & sell childhood stamp collection (been on the round tuit list for ages) - stamps worthless - but at least I know. Stamp man recommended I put them into local auction as would get a better price (hopefully £25 - £30 rather than the £5 he would offer) so dropped these off to auction yesterday
    • Clean out a couple of drawers in living room unit - to be done
Good habit forming (28 days to set a habit into daily routine or something like that - I'm going for 1 a week)
    • Post on here once a day 7/28
    Happy cheapness and freeness
    • Watch "Still Alice" on free Amazon Prime. I've read the book & want to watch the film but DH wouldn't be able to handle it as my Mum had a very similar type of dementia so I'll need to watch it on my own - turns out it's actually £3.49 but I still need to watch it - it's so close to home - on the cards for this afternoon
    • Ask butcher for free bones for dogs (Diego & Tora asked me to add this - sadly Clootie's gone to Rainbow Bridge) - done - happy doggies - although Tora wants ALL the bones and I have to keep rescuing Diego's bone from her (dug named Tora as she's a Toerag - just wish she didn't feel she had to live up to her name)
    • On to series 4 of "The Walking Dead"
Painful - but gotta be done
Go to butchers & L*dl for weekly shopping - done - will only need a wee bit bread later on in the week
Money shuffle & bills review as DH got paid yesterday - must - do - this
Pick up prescription from chemist (thankfully up here in Scotland it's free) - done
Stepford day - clean house / washing / ironing etc - work in progress

And I'm adding another category for myself - Mins game but adapted. You've probably already seen this but you're supposed to get one thing out your house on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd etc. For November this would mean getting rid of 465 things so I'm just starting with that and counting down how many things I get rid of. I really aim to count actual things rather than bits of paper & odds & sods I would get rid of anyway

    Mins game - 0/465

Anyway - I need to make a start - the conservatory floor needs washed, the bedroom needs a clean and the kitchen - don't even ask

PS - I can put on smilies by keying the code, but not by clicking on them - any ideas?
