    Hello,

Nearly overslept and missed the free Hallowe'en ParkRun extravaganza. Moved like a bullet out of the gun when I realised I had three minutes to get up, dressed and into the car. Then, to compensate, moved as slow as a snail for the whole 5km dressed as a bat, a very wet bat 'flying' through the pouring rain. ;) Bat headband cost £1. There was a free CPR training afterwards but I gave it a miss as I was drowned and shivering.

Thanks for the PiggyBanking advice Foxgloves.

    Debt-Free Nillionaire Month 5:

    * Staying on the sofa most of the day. Will watch some things recorded from the tv and perhaps 4 Pirates of the Carribean DVDs later from the cupboard.

    * May work out how to spend free £20 Amazon voucher earned by allowing a research company to track my mobile phone usage for 8 weeks through an App. Ratison I think this is the same survey you are referring to. It wouldn't work on my laptop but did work on my mobile.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Hello Everyone

Jono - thanks for the start. Good luck putting the garden to bed. Hope it won't still be up 3 hours later whining and crying that it's not tired and needs a snack ;)

Well. I think it is safe to come out of the brace position and gingerly test the waters again re feeling like a human. A week on antibiotics and I certainly feel way better than I did. Thank you for all the nice get well soon messages.

My husband managed to get along and register the baby this week so she is now official. He also sorted her out a bank account at the same bank as son so we could pay in the money relatives had given her. Too tempting to forget if left too long.

New pay month started today for OH so got to do the bill shuffle at some point this weekend. You know the bit where you feel rich for all of 2 minutes before realising it all belongs elsewhere :)

Sorry for missing any news this week.

    Good Morning Everyone

Jonno - Thanks for starting us off
Bob - glad you're on the road to recovery

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Well another disturbed night, thanks to our noisy neighbours and another weekend that DH is not working. Looking after the small things has meant that we've been able to have a few treats like footie tickets and new curtains and we've even managed a week without shopping. So today we have

Clean patio doors (glass) and frames
Hang new curtains at patio doors
    Dusted/hoovered all through
All lightshades have been taken down, washed and put back up
DH (finally) hung a sign on shed (being laying on table for weeks) DH & DS to footie match
    Bake
    Bump all sale listings/freecycle/facebook
    Craft ?
    Check Banks
    Continue purge on Emails
    Surveys
    Enter a few comps
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
    Read book
Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win
    Check Lucky Phone

    Have a good day!

Ha Bob your comment reminds me of years ago when I worked with a good friend. We were both struggling and trying to pay down our debts and get straight. We'd always encourage each other to keep our costs as low as possible, if we spotted a bargain & knew the other one would be interested we'd always call each other and see if the other one wanted some as well.

As well as this we always excitedly waited for payday to roll round and would laugh that it was *virtual* payday cos as soon as it came in it went out again :rotfl:

Gosh simpler times for me and while things were tight we had a lot of laughs and encouraged each other through the difficult times

Determined - that must have been a good time. A goal is always better when someone else is there for you. Is your friend also debt free now?

  • Hi

Nice to hear you are on the mend Bob. DNM I wish I had a friend like that. One thing that makes it difficult for us is that we dont know anyone else who is struggling for money so you always feel a bit of pressure to keep up with everyone else. My SIL has been suggesting a meal out at a new pub/restaurant near us but we just cant afford it at the moment.

Anyhow, productive day after my very early start. Going to have some pasta for tea so that I dont want to eat burgers or hot dogs at the fireworks tonight. Well thats the theory anyway.

Oh, must remember to get a quote for car breakdown cover soon too. Renewal price from our current provider is silly.
