When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Morning Jonno, thanks for the early start. I've been up for ages, why does my body do this to me at the weekend?!
Probably going to be a fairly spendy weekend for me because I'm having a Halloween tea party for family today, and then getting my hair done tomorrow (though my hairdresser now works from home so it will be cheaper than usual).
Other things - I got paid extra this month because of expenses so that's gone straight into bathroom fund.
I've signed up to do an Ipsos survey which tracks my internet use. A lot of points for that, but there were some issues with the webpage recognising that I'd installed the software on my laptop. I hope it's ok that it's on my phone!
Also got some shampoo and conditioner to try for another survey. So that's money saving!
If I have time, I'll start making some Christmas lists this weekend. Not many pay days left.
Hope the only frights you get this weekend are Halloween related and not financial!0 -
:hello: morning all
hope everyone is okay and feeling ok, Bob sending best wishes, I do hope you are well and truly on the mend.
Unlikely to get to much done today with dancing for both girls, then friends over after to play with girls and then DBIL over tonight, so I'll do a list for the weekend:
Packed lunch for dancing
Meals from stores
Parents coming tomorrow and we're going to 'put the garden to bed for winter' - well as much as we can, we still hall some lovely pockets of colour which will survive the cull :rotfl:
Meal plan for next week as DM bringing butcher order
Make teeny, tiny list for Ald! Of fresh stuff for DH to get Monday
Try and work out why mortgage payment is £40 less than normal due to go out Monday
Check on toms ripening in bag - anyone know how long they take?
Washing on overnight, may hangout later as supposed to be mild today
Think that's about all, have a good day everyone

Hi All
Washing done, drying done. Swam last night. Got lovely library books and am on target for a super duper relaxing weekend. Love it.
Am off to market to get 4 chickens today. Need to go early so I can park. Never easy at a chicken sale.
Menu plan is working but I NEED to get more out of freezer.
Have a lovely weekend everyone. And Bob hope you are recovered,

Morning all

Thanks for the start Jonno
And thanks to everyone for birthday wishes yesterday. I had a nice day, despite the rotten weather
New chickens Maria - how exciting
I have 3, who live in my little edge-of-town garden. Yours will be lucky to have a whole farm
I too need to get more out of the freezer BTW
, especially after OH accidentally defrosted one of the the other day
List for today:
Wash kitchen floor (done)
Put clean washing away Still to do
Quick tidy up as friend from France is over, and is popping in this morning
Itwas lovely to see her, and her sons, whom she brought with her
Ring another friend, to thank her for the plant she sent for my birthday
She seems to be out this evening, will try tomorrow
Find a suitable position for the plant - it is an indoor one which looks as though I could kill it easily, and might be dangerous for puppies to chew  It is still on the dining table at the moment
HM meals Done
Small shop at Lidls later Done, walked for free exercise
Remember to buy sweets for kids who come round trick or treating Done, haven't had any round though
Make a banana cake, as I have lots of soft bananas  I might do a Nigel Slater chocolate and banana one, as I have some Lidls plain choc in the cupboard
Done, and might have to sample it in a minute - in the interests of quality control of course!
Also made a plum crumble
Walk pup later Done
Brush and comb his fur Not doneyet, and don't want to wake him up just for that
Any surveys that are available none today
A little bit in the garden later if it stays dry Cleaned chickens out instead, composter full again now!
Continued to use moisturiser whose tube I cut open a week ago. I reckon there is still enough in there to last till the middle of next week
Got game pie filling out of the freezer to make up into a pie tomorrow morning, as DS is coming for lunch
Hmmm, I am sure there are other things I need to be doing  I will pop back later and update.
Hope everyone has a good day

Morning everyone
Been up since 4.30am. Worrying mainly about money but also about DS, work and all sorts of other things. I need to get a grip. I have done our November budget and its tight, but do-able. I have a little saved up so we can do Christmas, although it wont be extravagant. Our debts are reducing and we have small pots of money set aside for various things. I need to stop worrying so much.
I think some of my worries are about whether I can resist the temptation to spend over the next 2 months. But that's down to me isnt it?
So today, I will go into our local town for a few bits of shopping, will write a list. Going out tonight to a fireworks display but just me and DS1 so it wont be expensive. Washing is in, will get it out on the line so that it hopefully dries a bit. Tea will be from mealplanner, need to check what I put down!
I have a coat that I think is worth listing on ebay, and an unused Clarins gift set that I have been saving all year to list in the hope someone buys it as an Xmas present.
Have a good Saturday all x0 -
Good morning everyone
Thanks for the start Jonno...
Hope everyone is doing well - half term is well and truly over and back into the routine that includes getting ds to football for 8.15 on a Saturday morning. It's been a lovely week and I've really enjoyed getting caught up on sleep and relaxing a lot. I've had a busy brain overnight and am determined to do a couple of 'little bits' that will ultimately help me but I've been putting off for ages.
Today's list:
check banking and PAD
load of washing
minimise use of heating
15 mins housework and declutter
ds to football
both kids to gymnastics
find a recipe to use up a block of brie that I have in the fridge that is desperate
claim my Tesco points from Eon and investigate their double up
check S'bury's website for slippers that my ds fell in love with last night (while on 25% off)
link my nectar card to eBay
Think that's it for now.Not giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

Morning all,
Thanks for the start Jonno - and Maria - more chickens - I'm so jealous. I want chooks again now
Weekend list of randomness- Go to stamp buying shop locally & sell childhood stamp collection (been on the round tuit list for ages)
- Go to butchers & L*dl for weekly shopping
- Ask butcher for free bones for dogs (Diego & Tora asked me to add this - sadly Clootie's gone to Rainbow Bridge)
- Attempt to make firelighters using old candlewax & revolting teabags
- Pick up prescription from chemist (thankfully up here in Scotland it's free)
- Money shuffle & bills review as DH got paid yesterday
- Clean out a couple of drawers in living room unit
- Make up Black out box & put in newly cleared space in living room unit (I have all the stuff - it's just not all together)
- Stepford day - clean house / washing / ironing etc
- Watch "Still Alice" on free Amazon Prime. I've read the book & want to watch the film but DH wouldn't be able to handle it as my Mum had a very similar type of dementia so I'll need to watch it on my own
That's all for now but as I have 2 whole days to myself as DH is working I'm sure there will be more
Off to get started - have a good day y'allDebts 07/12/2021
