I had a quick google of Myasthenia gravis , I hope you don't mind, and I wonder if your boss and colleagues really don't know how you are feeling, am I right in saying you have a relatively mild case? Correct me if I am wrong, would you be entitled to any benefits as it must be extremely hard for you to work full time and then having an arduous commute and then getting your flat ready for sale, not to mention looking after yourself.

I do wonder if you need to reevaluate as if your debts are the same as in the beginning post, and you sell for £375k after debts and things you would have around the £260k mark? That would be lots to buy in Poole from what I see on rightmove and put a decent amount in the bank.

For your health and getting out of your toxic situation you may have to alter your plans.

Whatever you do, don't sell your property. You may never be able to get back on the property ladder again. And whilst your brother was a nightmare tenant, a student or a Monday-Thursday tenant would be different in that you could terminate the arrangement quickly if it didn,t work out. Income from this below around £4000 p.a is tax free and would help boost your financial reserves or emergency savings.

Could you consider retraining or acquiring apme new skills? Go to yiur local library and borrow or order a copy of "What colour is your parachute?" It is an unlikely title but is a wonderful handbook full of ideas for reassing your life direction in terms of jobs, acquiring new skills and generally just opening your mind to new perspectives.

Meanwhile start drastically decluttering anyway. A clearer property may help clear your mind and it will give you something to focus on while you ponder other options. Travelling is all very well and deairable but if it means just taking your troubles with you, you will still have to face them when you get back, and possibly with no job and no home. If having a base that you own is important to your sense of security, albeit with a mortgage, make sure you keep it and look for options which include hanging onto ownership as a key basic.

    Have you read the thread?

AC is looking to sell in London's suburbs, move to a much cheaper area and buy with no mortgage, and also take a break from work, which currently involves a hated job in a poor place of employment. All of which seems eminently sensible to me.

IMHO, with the exception of the line on decluttering, your advice is not appropriate, and is unlikely to help ACs situation.

Harz ........I couldn't agree more with your assessment of Primrose's post.

Clearly he or she hasn't read the thread properly because the advice given is just so muddle headed and contrary. And yes, inappropriate given ACs situation, aspirations and hopes for the future, not to mention his health issues.

Well I've had a good day. The loss adjusters have made me a good offer for my car - much better than I expected and I have managed to do some yoga today - first time since the crash. I start my Physio tomorrow.

Hope all is well today AC.

A student and a 4 bed house - you could let a room out if you wanted to another student.

I"m not a student, both my kids are away at uni. Unfortunately there are no uni's near me to let rooms for anyone. I have been looking at websites looking for lodgers but I'm not sure it'll solve my problem, I need the girls to be able to come home for weekends when they want and not find someone else in their room !

Thanks again patchwork , for looking at this thread and my condition.
Trying to be brief will be difficult ,but I'll try to summarise :

I was misdiagnosed with partial 3 palsy back in March 2014.
I only had one eye functioning for 9 months or so.
When you are told that it would clear in a few weeks ( and it doesn't )
    You start to worry .
    I was told ( in October the same year ), that I have occular m g .
I will be on tablets the rest of my life . Chance of recovery50/50.
The bizarre thing was , the eye was the only problem at the time.
However , once my first appointment came in January last year , I suffered the full on effect of : slurred speech/ Choking while eating certain food / breathlessness and feeling like a 2 week old kitten.

The auto immune system is affected by this .
My brother (who is often very blunt at times) was telling people I had a stroke . The condition is from the same family , so he probably wasn't too far from the truth there .
Last year was a write off . What with my mum dying in oct , and the company not understanding what I was going through ..things were tough . The company referred me to their company doctor to try and get me sacked blaming the steroids .

Now , I have to explain my prescription : the good news ( now), is that I thought for most of last year , I was on loads of steroids .
Truth is , I was in loads of tablets , but only 1 steroid .
That steroid is prednisolone ! Evil! In Hosp initially I was on 17 a day.
That is the main drug I take now , plus pyrostigamine( muscle booster).
I am now on (only) 2 of those. Plus pyrostigamine , a few blood tablets and that's it . My condition is very mild, so I consider myself lucky. The specialist , made amistake in trying to ween me off prednisolone , but he made a mistake and from oct- Jan , I was like an old man of 90, hardly able to move,

I put it all down to stress :) The specialists and the junior doctors have a lot of time for me , and amazed at how I'm relaxed about t all now . IMHO , all I need to do is lose weight and carry on .
The neck gets stiff watching tv, as the whole of the left side of my face is affected . Pyrostigamine 4 times a day boosts the muscle .

The condition makes me extremely tired at times. Lethargic etc.
My aim is to stop the rut, lose weight and get enthusiastic about stuff again .
    Thanks LL again also ;)

    Initially , I said I won't do anything unless I get £400,000.
I'm feeling relaxed about everything , and if I have to wait till next year, so be it .
    However , if I got £390,000, that's good .
3 things come to mind : if I can get my ideal place in Poole , and a reduced price is accepted - great !
The more cash I have n the bank the better , as I don't think I'm fit enough to go into a new job/ area just yet.
I've never sponged off the gvt , but if my condition gets worse in the future , then I need as much cash I can make from sake of house.
Also , I'm trying to think if i can make a settlement figure ( lower obviously )on my dmp

I get free prescriptions now , but you have to re apply every 5 years.
I wasn't even hold about free prescriptions , after soencing a fortune last year , I found out through word off mouth .
    That's m g done ;)

Forgot to mention : I had2 appointments at Richmond rehab .
This was to see a speech therapist . Ended up seeing 2.
They gave me food thickener to put I my drink. They gave me a few pages of English literature for me to practice at home . They also gave me a few excercise to do with a straw .
One final thing : I was gonna go back to work after amonth off. However , after a month , I still couldn't talk very much and I had to take 2 months off.
I still get tired around 8pm( getting up at 5 pm makes it any day anyway).
When out for a beer or 2 , you slur speech a bit and people think you are drunk when you are not.
    I think that's everything ;)
  • So , back to the key issue ;)
I'm being pestered by estate agents ( one or two are not ones I'm registered with).
Could be wrong , but I think that they all know things will be quiet , and I'm just another property really .
I think I will stay with chase Buchanan . However , when I do afford the carpet , they will have to come around for new pictures to be taken. I will book a day off in August and get bark chippings delivered for the cats of twickenham to play with.

I'm pondering a declutter soon . Probably when I feel better after a proper nights sleep ;)
    Cheers all

AC - it's dreadful that no one told you about being able to obtain free prescriptions. We had several similar issues when my husband first became ill. Like you I found out the hard way.

I first found this site in 2006 when he became really symptomatic and unable to work. This site has save my bacon, not just from the articles etc by Martin but also by the lovely people who so generously share their knowledge and expertise.

My husband took prednisalone, among all sorts of other wonder drugs. Predisalone is prescribed for a whole range of conditions, it works well but it's not nice.

Maybe one day, once everything is sorted, you might be able to do without it, or at least reduce the dosage and or frequency.

Thanks again LL . Just added another paragraph above . Important one at that ;)
I have a feeling , that I will be free from them in about 18-24 months time . Assuming I've lost at least a stone by then .
Yeah m s e is a great site . I like found it by chance . Love sour crates and fatbelly ;)Believe it or not , I was thinking of sharing a place with my brother , and asked someone on a forum here ( prob about 5 years ago now ).
He left last spring . I can't believed I painted ( I use that terim looseley)2 bedrooms last year , in my condition . I was a lot worse then . It was around Spring time this year , when I painted a wall in the living room and I decided to change everything ;)

Glad you're getting good news about the car etc ;)
