    Thanks everyone . :)
I fell asleep . Woke up to hear the Rolling Stones on telly. Some gig in Cuba Also the wind and rain sound heavy .
Verbatim, I looked at a studio, and it was smaller than a children's cot.

Actually, regarding storage etc. Is a one bed ok? How long should I leave stuff in storage ? My logical head disappears randomly . Honestly don't know. I have seen a mews house in lower parkstone, which looks great.
Trouble is, all my stuff is in storage . I left estate agent an email so I can view it. There are a few places around. Some available now. Others not until after next Monday. Unfurnished or furnished ? I don't know. If it's unfurnished I could move all my stuff out of storage ..
  • AC, grab a pad and a pen and work out what is cheaper. An unfurnished 2 bed flat and moving all your stuff into it, or paying for storage and getting a furnished (or at least part furnished) large studio/1 bed.
See what works out cheaper over 6 months and go for the cheapest option.
And remember, don't worry if somewhere is small, it needs to be clean, safe and functional. It's not your forever home, just a stop gap whilst you find somewhere to buy.... Infact somewhere that isn't palatial might spur you onto buying your forever place quicker rather than getting to comfy in a nice rented place.
    :)
PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.
Now to start saving...it's a whole new world!!
  • Presumably you have been given a weekly rate for storage AC? Work out how much 6 months will cost you. One thing to bear in mind is some unfurnished places still have white goods. What did you bring with you from twickenham? Washing machine, fridge, freezer etc

If you take your stuff out of storage though you will need to move it twice. Once to your rental place and then on to your flat or house when you buy it. I saw the Mews house on Rightmove. It looked nice.

  • Mews house is lovely, however.........

£1k rent. Ouch. It is furnished so you will also need to factor in storage costs.
As cute as it is you need to walk away or you will be burning money.

There are plenty of decent 2 bed rentals rentals for around £800, even cheaper if you can manage with 1 bed.

As others have said, Ask the storage people for a quote for six months, and haggle. Work out which is cheapest.

    A saving of 300 is £1800 over 6 months.

That could be your food bill for a year.;).
  • Decisions decisions ..:)
Thankfully , I never brought any white goods with me .
The bulkiest things I took (was gonna chuck), the 2 piece and 3 piece leather sofas.
Other essential stuff, TVs / hi fi / soundstage(a bar that goes under the tv but is weighty),and the Pilates machine .

That's the annoying thing about my situation- having to move my belongings more than once .
With big yellow storage , you only have to give a weeks notice.

Probably viewing the mews house tomorrow enthusiastic. :)
There is also a large flat, but it's £1,050 a month. Span new . Balcony etc.
I have to watch the spending . It does look amazing and spacious though ..
  • Morning LL .:)
We must've been typing at the same time .
I have been thinking about one beds. Costs/location and storage all come into the equation at some point.
Studio= too small. At least I considered it .
When I left the studio yesterday, the price dropped .

1 bed or 2?: I expect 1 , maybe 2 visitors to stay over in the coming months. Not a lot . So, a 1 bed may work.
If I go for 2 bed, maybe I could store all of my stuff in an unfurnished 2
bed. This would mean I don't pay for storage once all my stuff is taken out.
It does mean removal costs from storage to rental , then removal costs from rental to my new permanent residence .
  • Please dont be swayed off your goal by chasing shiny new flats.....
Your goal is to find a forever home within the next 6 months
Whatever you spend in the next 6 months has the potential to take that much money that you cannot achieve your goal
You do not have much furniture so my advice would be to go for. Medium price 1 bed fully furnished. Or a 2 bed where you can store in second room rather than big yellow.
This will mean you do not have to buy enough furniture to make the rental place liveable as that new furniture may not suit your forever home
Like others have said work out the costs but please keep your end goal in mind. you have come so far already
Cncentrate on the goal and you will achieve it
  • Thanks debs:)
Looking into it . I am staggered by how much stuff I have actually taken with me . 75sq ft. Initially it was 50, but the removal man knew how much stuff I had.
Nearly forgot ,I also took my kingside bed frame with me :)
  • Just sent an email, regarding a property in sandringham road £850 pm
    2 bed unfurnished .upstairs flat . I'd call it a maissonnette .
It's very near the studio I looked at yesterday. The price has been reduced , so it may be the one to go for .
  • Actually why don't you consider a room in a shared house? As it would be temp it might be worth considering. Cost much lower than a 6 month tenancy, probably would be on a licence so meaning you only have to give minimal notice (usually a week, but depends if the rent is a monthly or weekly charge). I've always wanted to live in a shared house and have fantasies that if our financial situation became dire we would all move into a room in a shared house (me oh and a 3 year old) and rentrent our house out while we got back on our feet. Might be worth considering
