Get your rented property sorted out and there is then time to deal with that using your new address rather than rely on using your mates address.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

I haven't changed address with nationwide as yet.
So many complications0 -
You need an address before you can change it
If your mail is being forwarded to your mates then there is no problem for a little while.
How long did you do the redirection for ?0 -
I too would not worry about opening new accounts until you have tenancy agreement on your temporary home. Banks insist on id with address verified. There is a temporary period, someone else said 6 months when the guarantee covers more than 75k so leaving your money in Nationwide won't matter for a few weeks. Sort out your debts and when you are in new flat and have a bill (council tax?) then open national savings income bonds account as that has unlimited guarantee. More straightforward for you.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. While I'm awake, things that have to be mentioned
1) when my brothers friend was doing the rubbish run, he did tell me that the price has gone up to £120 prer load. Also it would cost more for an invoice. I had a lot of stuff, so I sai d ok.
When I paid him , I gave him £400. I asked him what was outstanding
( big mistake). He said £300. I told him my brother would pay him / I have nothing etc. I gave his son (who was helping him), a couple of bottles of drink. In the car, he said, ' you gave my son some booze, what're you giving ne?' Then'only joking'
He phoned me a couple of times when I was on my way to Poole, I blocked his calls. Low battery etc. Plus I think my brother may have put a spanner in the works.
2)regarding putting my money into different accounts. Do I open new accounts in my friends address? This will be with other building societies/ banks.
3) Payplan : once the money has been split ( all going well), I intend to contact them and make a settlement offer.
That's it for now
How many loads did your brothers friend do? You can calculate it yourself if it is £120 per load. Leave it until next week to sort out.
If your brother has a key he needs to hand it in to cb or leave it in your old flat. It won't be yours after Monday although generally speaking when we move we change locks so your buyers could do this. So long as estate agents have a key you don't need to go all the way back.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. Re the waste/tip run
I thought you had to pay him extra for a bigger van?
If its a bigger van then surely you cannot then have to pay for more runs
If he didnt turn up in the bigger van then I would assume he had managed to cancel it
Seems like he wants his cake and to eat it You can pay for one or the other but paying for both is being ripped off imho0 -
Absolutely turn the alarm off! What do you need to wake up at 5 a.m. for? It does not get light for two hours plus after that!
I don't wish to alarm you (pun intended) but I think you need to sort the key out as, if CB returned it to you once you had sold and no longer have one, you could be said to be in breach of the contract... All keys have to be handed in by 2 p.m. (I think) on the day of completion, from memory.
Good luck with your brother and, if CB do still have a key, I would just say the other is lost/damaged or something, as GG suggested. If you get any sshh, offer to pay for new locks; problem solved.0 -
TBH I would not be happy leaving the key with brother who sounds untrustworthy and devious to me, even less so if the brother's mate has/had access to it as well.
I think AC needs to get it back Monday, check the flat is secure and hand the key to CB by midday Monday ready for completion.
Trust nobody to do things for you when failure to do so could cause grief further along the line.0 -
I completely agree, harz. I was trying not to alarm AC but I think you are absolutely right; better safe than sorry.0

I second this.......
If necessary change the locks.
Sorry to be a bit negative but something like this could come back to haunt you.0
