    Too cloudy here too.

What a lovely thing to say, Smodlet. OH faked it for his parents, helped by the geographical distance and avoiding Sunday visits. Other family members are still in Scotland, and still 'in', although they must be suspicious.

I recently heard Miriam Margolyes say how much she regrets finally coming out to her mother. She thinks it was a selfish and unkind thing to do, as it caused so much distress. Although my MIL never had a civil word for me, and I often had to bite my tongue, the truth about her son would have caused her (to her) inexplicable pain.

And of course it would have been my fault.

Moon now just visible through thinning cloud.

Wendym, I just call it as I see it. It is so refreshing to find so many real people on here. I seem to have been surrounded by pseuds for almost all of my life.

I never understand why some people, including OH, get so excited about the movement of lumps of rock/gassy things in space. Yes, we need them all including, apparently, Jupiter, otherwise we would fall into the sun or float off into the abyss, or something. It's the same freaking moon it is all the time and it's always there; the only reason we can (usually, except on Durin's Days) see it only at night is because it is the wrong side of us or the sun outshines it, or something. There is so little we have any control over... Most stuff just is.

    Was that deep?
  • So, I went to bed around 9pm. Fell asleep .phone rings about 20 mins ago.
It rang a second time . This time I answer it .
My brother tells me that his friend can't cancel the lorry .
So I explode . I tell him he can pay him and I won't etc .
My language is choice to say the least .

Spoke to my other brother who is the voice of reason .
He said that I should phone the lorry people direct and cancel it myself.
Good call! I reckon he will tell me he has already cancelled it .
IMHO he is bitter that I changed my mind with him.
I will ask him for the name of the Company .
I think he's gonna try to charge me hundereds .
If it doesn't work out him and my brother can both duck off and die.
It means I will have to get someone at the weekend .
    Not looking good
  • He cant force you to pay him AC. I thought he had already quoted you £300. Is he now saying it will be more? Of course he can cancel lorry. He has four days notice. Typical that it is your brother and his mate giving you so much grief. Maybe get a backup plan tomorrow for removing rubbish and give your brothers mate an ultimatum as he has messed you about so much.

  • Yes enthusiastic, I believe he is trying to make me pay more.
    I don't like it.
Before I sent text, I told my brother I don't care if I don't see either of them and that he can stick it. Interesting to see how much more he wants.

You are right . I had better look for somebody else as backup.
  • When you are stuck , you are stuck.
When brothers mate phones me . I'll offer to pay..my brother.
Bssically, what I'm saying is , ' £300 off me, my brother will pay you
whatever it is you want for the van'
If I pay my brother, it will be over many months .
  • I think you need your wits around you AC. Your brother knows you are going to have a large amount of money at your disposal and is going to try and get as much out of you as they can. Google rubbish removal in your area and see if you can get alternative quote. I cannot believe that in the London area you cannot get someone one else to remove it.

  • Morning AC. Just put 'man with a van' and 'YOUR AREA' into Google. I'll bet loads of results come up. I can't remember where you live currently and for some reason I have twickenham in my head, so I tried man with a van twickenham and had loads to choose from.
Forget your brother and his mate. They are messing you about. Book someone else in and get the job done.

Even better - when you phone the man with a man see if someone can do it tomorrow, then you can just go with the removal men.
