Metro Bank have a nice, new, shiny branch in Kingston. Open 7 days a week until 8.00 p.m. (weekdays) with shorter hours on weekends. They can quite often open an account on the day, including a bank card.
https://www.metrobankonline.co.uk/about-us/events/events2/kingston-grand-openingFwiw, I think you should buy a freehold house, and not a flat with ongoing costs. That said you really can't do anything about the flat at the moment, no time. You would also have the problem of getting the tenant out.
No, I wouldn't go there.
Let me tell you the 'joy' of sharing a joint freehold a share of tenancy with someone who doesn't live there anymore, but rents it out:
There have been a series of tenants over the years - some OK, others with concrete feet and a wooden floor above my head + children who enjoy running around and playing football inside.
They either don't close the front door properly so my security is at risk. Otherwise, they slam it so hard the original stained glass cracks - and then don't want to pay.
Having to go through the letting agent to get anything agreed with regards maintenance. Delays and delays when they never get back to me or don't keep me in the loop.
The workmen they've used do shoddy work (which they say is done "to a high standard") - it's not.
I wish to heck I knew what I know now and I'd gone for a house.
No-one *likes* spending money, but sometimes you have to when you own property. At least the choices would be mine and mine alone.0 -
There's a metro bank in Holborn also .Thanks for that
Totally agree about the flat issues.
My brother lives in a ground floor flat ( there are 3.A house split into 3 one bedrooms).
The other 2 flats are let out . The top one is tiny.
My brother is argumentative and works nights. However ,the constant running up and down stairs.people leaving the front door open, showing complete disregard for others. Leaving bikes parked in the hallway etc.
Not knowing who you are going to get. and how long .
Yep you have to be careful ,with those kind of flats0 -
3 days to go ...
difficult to say anything good about the place etc.
However , when put on the spot ,why lie.
In a conversation today , I basically called the company unfriendly .
When the financial director ignores me,etc after having a dig at me while giving a plastic apology , I cannot be bothered with anything here any more.
A few people are surprised and delighted for me . Some people show their ignorance, more or less not believing I live in twickenham and frown with the idea of me buying a place outright and having a 6 month sabbatical.
Don't worry, it's not me getting worked up or thinking about it , it why should I have to take rap any more ?
Still calm and believe it or not ,focused0 -
Just got called to see my (personnel) boss. I was wondering what it could be about .
It was about time owing . She is so unprofessional it's untrue .
She was getting in a muddle with everything . I have 15&a half days holiday which I will be paid for . Having said that , I've done well to keep them and drag this year out .all worthwhile in the end
So. ,3 days to go ...0 -
Well done AC, keep calm and focussed. You're in a fabulous position and just a couple more days and that's work over and done with in London. How amazing is that?!
My buyers are messing me about. After reassurances from both solicitors and the EA that they would sign first thing to allow exchange today, after all morning chasing I've been told that they are not going in to sign until 4.30 and exchange unlikely to happen today. We are supposed to complete on Thursday with removals already booked.
