AC, I think you would have heard from either Chase or your solicitor by now if there were any major questions arising from survey relating to mortgageability and/or work needed.

Do you know which type of survey they had done, or was it simply a valuation for the building society rather than a survey?

If that was the case the only fly may be the Property Mgmt Co.

No idea which survey Harz .
Chase Buchanan never got back to me , since I emailed them last Saturday .
What puzzles me, is the property mgt co. ( and possibly neighbour).
My solicitor , is still waiting for the sellers pack( or whatever it is called) from them .
I'm still waiting for their response to my email.
My solicitor, has a copy of the letter they sent me, plus a copy of the email I sent them.

Maybe , because of the fascia , the property mgt co have had a look and are seeing how much of a problem it is .
They could have noticed the neighbours overgrown fron garden and sent her a letter.

It may be a job that needs to be costed 4 ways ,and we could all get notice of work that needs doing.
Btw: just noticed, she hacked a few other parts of the front garden down today also.
She must really , really hate me now :)
  • Just noticed this morning , that she has trimmed the plants in the communal area . Getting to my garden was a pita most of the time .
    Still confused

Hi AC, all. Short of asking her, which I presume is unthinkable, one can only surmise that the management company have written to her about the state of her garden and possibly advised her they will send someone to attend to it and charge her for the work unless she does so herself in a timely fashion. This is pure conjecture on my part.

She could, of course, have suddenly looked at it with new eyes and decided to do something about it before the weather turns. Who knows? Only Ozzy.
  • Thanks smodlet . Apart from that, everything seems to be going on track.
I'd imagine my solicitor will guide me through in due course.
If she bites the head of one of her cats, then I will have to notify the authorities and buy her flat. :)
  • Nothing else to report so far . Just beginning to make lists of stuff to pack, and chuck out . One of my friends thinks everything is going to plan .
May put my aero Pilates machine on eBay tonight , tiredness pending .
I think the reality , is that it's best to travel as light as possible to rented accommodation. That thing weighs a ton .
  • Morning AC.

Yes "travelling light" will definitely make life easier for you. You will probably find that you will want to buy new stuff when you move into your permanent home anyway.

Although it's a shame you gave to part with the Pilates machine. If it were me that is something I would probably try and keep for your route back to fitness. I know they are quite heavy but does it fold flat for storage - maybe under a bed or by the side of a wardrobe or in a cupboard (like an ironing board).

I definitely want to have space for a mini gym in my next house. We have a cellar here but it's too damp. If it was a forever house we would have it tanked and turned into a gym but as my son intends to sell within a couple of years we have decided not to bother. We currently have a cross trainer in the third bedroom and then I make do with a yoga mat, small hand weights and a resistance band. But I will definitely want extra space to set up some equipment in my next place.

We used to use our garage as a gym. We all used it most days and even when my husband was sick the carers and I would help him on to the multi gym. His doctor said that the daily exercise kept my husband mobile for at least an extra year.

I am determined to stay fit and healthy into my dotage and a home gym will hopefully help me. ;)

No news this end. Viewed a bungalow on Friday, not fussed so I will carry on looking. No hurry.

In the words of Mr McCawber "Something will turn up". And I want to get it right.
  • Yeah, you could be right LL :)
I may keep it . It's amazing how little people get on fleabay .
I'm still in 2 minds about the leather furniture tho'.
It needs reupholstering . If I order other furniture , I don't know how long I will have to wait . Decisions decisions. I will offload my computer desk tho ' .Its only a cheap one that was self assembly .
Then there's my king size bed . I need a new mattress and topper etc.
I may give the bed and computer desk to a charity shop .
That'll make the load lighter .

It's good that you can take your time finding the right place LL .
You'll know which one , one day :)
  • Yes there's a lot of decisions for you now. Parting with possessions can be quite hard to do, especially if they have sentimental value.

I gave a lot of my larger items of furniture to the boys as temporary until they could afford their own stuff. Some of it is still in use, I might even have a couple of my favourite pieces back when I move. Furniture tends to get shared round the family and "does the rounds". :rotfl:

    Re the leather sofas.

In the past I have had quotes for reupholstering. Sadly it was cheaper to buy new ones.

Could you keep one for now. You will need something to sit on (and a bed to sleep on). Although I suppose you could get rid of all three and buy a cheapish sofa bed or day bed whilst you are renting if pushed for space. Although don't forget you want to be comfortable and not wreck your back.

Later, The sofa bed could then go in a guest room/study.

    Decisions......
  • Nice decisions tho'. I think , getting rid of all 3 is the way to go .
There is a bensons bed shop up the road from me .
I'll see if I can get a decent sofa bed from there , and keep the wrapping and use that as my bed until settled . Ideal guest bed anyway .
Look forward to getting new stuff :)
    Stress therapy :)
  • Sounds like a good plan......specially the retail therapy. :rotfl:
