However, being a cash buyer it looks like I may be able to get a decent place within budget. I was getting like an ostrich for a few weeks, putting my head in the sand as things are happening fast and I was thinking of panic buying . You're a great help.
Thanks.:) Personally, if you had the extra £25k I would have recommended you save it and stick with spending £225k on a property. Then you would have had a £35 - £40k cushion to see you through to state pension age and less pressure to work. So the savings have taken the hit but you are right, there's plenty for sale in your budget.
eta: Of course you could still have this much left if you dropped your top property price to £200k. This would mean haggling on the one's on sale at £210-£215 (is that right LL?)There's plenty of those on Rightmove.0 -
Having looked online at employment in Poole here is one site I thought was interesting.
http://www.poole.gov.uk/jobs-and-careers/careers-advice/finding-employment-in-poole/
It mentions the strong economy and also seasonal work. As you get older that may be more suitable. Work when the weather is fine and don't worry about having to get up on cold dark mornings.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220 -
Thanks again folks .
Angie , sorry to hear about your son . Hope things improve somehow .
My friend in lower parkstone has concerns for me on the job side .
Most of the folk think I'll be bored . But as a couple said to me,
' you're bored now , so you may as well do it .'
'You can't afford to be in Twickenham , as you're existing on thin air.'
Not even living . What is winton like ? I keep thinking of dale winton
I will always have thoughts in my head. One thing just flew by ne- : temping! Up until 1999, I only ever worked permanent . I didn't understand temping . I had mainly good experiences with it .( some bad , but I won't dwell). Up until the huge recession ( which we are still in IMHO ) I could basically go from one job to another . Even had to turn down people on occasions. I got my present job through temping and had to accept, as northern rock had just collapsed and everything dried up on a short period of time .
When I said to my friend a few months ago , I would expect to. get about £10 per hour , he told me to dream on . It will be tough to say the least .
I'm hoping that I can get something . Dare I say if there are zero hour contracts I could consider them - obviously not a sports direct environment
Just thought of something that did make me laugh. I had to temp in a little office in the city. One of the phone companies opened a place in waies.
The place to phone for jobs, was in London . We had language barriers that's for sure .) git to meet aspiring actress and people who knew current boy bands etc.
Anyway , yes I expect a struggle to put it mildly .
Wasting away if I don't try this move tho'0 -

Thanks triple choc. That was the plan . One of the plans I have is to get a £225,000 place for £200,000 etc. May be a life saver

This won't be of any help to you now but my first full-time summer job was in Winton, summer of 1977. I had a regular Saturday job at a baker's shop in Christchurch but once school had finished for the summer hols they sent me over to the Winton branch for six weeks to manage it (!) It was a smaller and less busy shop than Christchurch though so I think I made an ok job of it!0 -
Next time you are in Poole have a little look in a few shops and price some of the things you use on a regular basis - food, household items, transport costs, eating and drinking out, that sort of thing.
The lifestyle that £10 an hour gives you in London may be easily achievable even on minimum wage in Poole.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220 -

Well yes, but a Plusbus ticket as above HAS to be attached to a rail season ticket of the same length and with a starting or finishing station in the Plusbus area. So cost is much more than that quoted.0 -
Thanks people
Another humid horrible morning already . May try and take tomorrow off as holiday . This move can't come quick enough on days like this .0
