Yes He's done the iPad setting thing.
Good luck with survey results. Try not to worry.0 -
Gosh, LL, what a horrible thing to happen although I did not think anyone left their front door unlocked these days, really... come to think, my good next door neighbour does... I think she's nuts. I did not leave mine unlocked when I went next door to feed her cat while she was away, with OH still in the house. I would not even do so where we used to live, which was a heck of a lot classier than here. The main thing is that you are unhurt... sometimes I think the Texans have a point, though I would hate to live like that.0

AC, glad to hear things are moving with the sale of your flat, I hope your buyers survey doesn't find any unexpected problems.
Lesson learned, that sounds terrifying, I am relieved to hear you were not hurt though, but sorry to hear your son's iPad was stolen. Hopefully you will get it back. Thanks for views on the survey, I have been finding it hard to decide whether to proceed with the purchase. The surveyor recommended a retention of £3000 but didn't give any indication of how much the work would cost, I will need to get specialist reports done. Not sure about having a mortgage till I'm 75 AC lol. The mortgage advisor seemed to think going beyond 67 would be problematic, I will be on a state pension though.0 -
Glad you are OK LL. As you say- things can be replaced and it could have been worse if you had tried to stop him.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220

Thank heavens you were able to get out of the intruder's path and were not hurt. It has made me feel I should have my front door locked as an automatic thing now even though I live in a quiet area.
It must have been an awful shock.
Elona....I posted my experience on the bereavement threads too as a warning to those of us who are new to being "home alone".
Perhaps singletons like AC are used to being sensible and are in the habit of locking their doors but when like me you are used to having a house full of men - a husband built like a bear (when he was well), and two strapping sons then I never had to worry my pretty little head about safety.
I shall have to take matters of security a bit more seriously from now on. I was fortunate this time, I won't push my luck.:D
Any thanks everyone for all your kind thoughts and wishes. I was a bit shocked yesterday and have felt rather drained today but I'm perfectly safe and unharmed.
I have been very naughty.........
I have just booked my dream trip - a cruise to Brazil and the Amazon - 42 days starting January 2018.

LL OMG I've got serious holiday envy! That sounds incredible.
Well on the house front my buyer pulled out on the day of exchange (Friday. He didn't want to wait to complete even though it was actually his solicitors that held us up over the last few weeks. He had ordered furniture to be delivered to the house before we had even exchanged (silly man). He asked for £10k to be knocked off for storing the furniture for 2 weeks - I said no chance.
I'm miffed but not too worried, it went straight back on the market that day and I have 4 viewing lined up for next weekend already.
More p*ssed that I have to make sure the house is immaculate every time I leave it now haha!0
