Thanks for that Smodlet. Great help.

No - no gluten for me, in fact no grains full stop. I try to eat Paleo style, no biggie it's easy enough. It's just occasionally I do Miss a nice chunk of artisan bread. Ds2 wafted some under my nose and I succumbed.

    Anyway I'm fine now.
  • Oops ! Me bad:( sorry LL. Thanks smodlet.
I used to work with a nice chap, who is gluten intolerant , so I feel your pain. We've all got something.

    Glad you're ok now :)

I'm allergic to so many foods, that it's probably one of the main reasons why I'm still single. only veg I can eat, is potatoes and peas.
But , we're all still here , so we are doing more right than wrong imho:)

Speaking of crumbs, AC, you have more than enough on your plate at the moment... and LL, you know better. We all know better but, I suspect, we all do/eat/drink things that are bad for us, it's called living. I still maintain a person could be a raw, organic vegan with a minimal carbon footprint, who exercises religiously every day and lives up some Tibetan mountain and still get cancer. You makes your choices, you takes your risks.

I hope your foot and LL's stomach both recover very soon. Please keep us posted.

AC, I would love to see some of the properties you are considering but am utter rubbish at finding stuff on RM, so if you felt like posting or PM-ing a few links, I would be interested to see what peels your banana.

Take care, y'all and, if I have been of any help at all, LL, that makes me very happy. S xx

Oh my, LL, what is the skinny on the Paleo diet? I have just googled it and straightaway there is an article on weed!

Weed??? You mean as in naughty cigarettes??

Doesn't figure in my meal plans.:rotfl:

    Honest;)

No basically it's just back to the simple foods our ancestors would have eaten - clean eating, cooking from scratch. It's called Paleo as in Palaeolithic man, also sometimes called the caveman or stone age diet.

Nutritionists always recommend an exclusion diet based on Paleo principles - usually called FODMAP when trying to work out which allergies a patient might possess.

The theory is you cleanse the system of all possible allergens and then reintroduce certain food groups one at a time to find the culprit.

Paleo meals are based on meat, fish, nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruit. Anything which would have formed a hunter gatherer diet. No grains. You can use herbs, spices and seasonings so it doesn't have to be bland and boring. It sounds horribly restrictive but actually there's masses you can eat. It just takes a bit of practice and learning to cook slightly differently.

Tonight's dinner was roast gammon with a honey glaze, carrots, cauliflower "mash" and roasted Mediterranean vegetables,(red onions, peppers, courgettes, tomatoes).

I am still learning and am currently experimenting with Paleo friendly baking - ie coconut and almond flours. The results have been a bit hit and miss.:rotfl: I just need to keep practising.

Technically a strict Paleo diet also excludes dairy but I do eat some. A life without cheese would be no fun. I also still drink tea and coffee, although not as much as I used to. (And of course the odd glass of wine or an occasional G & T;)

It's been trial and error but after a lifetime of stomach ulcers, GERD and IBS I am delighted to say that adopting a Paleo diet has transformed my health. No Pain and I don't need any medication.

Occasionally I do fall off the wagon, sometimes with no ill effects but sometimes, like this afternoon, I do pay the price.
  • Amazing how certain foods affect us .
    I've had no crisps/ prngles/ Frazzles for a week now .
    No more blotchy face :)
The only fizzy drink I've had since Saturday , has been fizzy water.
No ice cream since Tuesday .
    Oh, and no croissants :(

Back at work today . Already , the bus was humid and smelly.
( boris bus , new design)

Still , hopefully not as hot today .

Well done on cutting out the junk. I'm sure you will reap the benefits.

Good luck at work. Only one day - Fab Friday. "The weekend starts here".

Do you remember RSG (Ready Steady Go) or is that not your era. :rotfl:

Off to see a couple of properties, tried to book a third, the EA promised to ring me back with a viewing appt. That was three days ago. Still waiting. Poor service. And it's not the first time this has happened to me.

If I were the vendor I would be fuming but Im guessing the Vendor doesn't find out in these cases......
  • Good luck with the viewings LL .
Ready , steady go. I have heard of it , but thankfully it was before my time :)
