that's cool, do whatever works for you, but I learnt the hard way to always weigh my items before posting :o:( as I lost a lot of money with incorrect postage too.

Yep I also learned the hard way that "I think this weighs less than a bag of sugar" is not a reliable way to calculate postage!

    Adding £2.56 TCB & 10p Qmee - total is £148.80.

Does anyone else here use Qmee?

    I do!

You've just reminded me to check, I set up an account ages ago and never did much with it. I've got £3.83 in there.:j

Quick question regarding Qmee, Quidco etc, do you count the earnings when they are confirmed or once you have transferred to your account? Also, how often do you transfer the money?

In that case I might just cash out today. At least it will help boost my monthly total :j

I will be back later with my amended figures :)

I think most of us count the money when it's actually in our bank accounts as, like Aesop said, there's no guarantee that you'll get it. I've noticed one or two posters count money from surveys, cashback sites etc as soon as it's confirmed or they've done the survey but I know Aesop doesn't advocate that method;).

I use myhermes but it is best to weigh your parcels before setting a p and p price on fleabay.

if you have kitchen scales weigh your parcel before listing, otherwise take it to your local PO and ask them weight and then shop around for prices. I use myhermes for stuff under a kilo as only £2.60 if I drop off.

I do weigh them if I'm in any doubt, but on that one - I wasn't - I was just wrong ! after it had been boxed up it was over - but I expect not by much.

Generally I'm content with £2.80 for the "Up to 2 kg" weight from PO - and big stuff collectplus do "shop near me to shop near you..." for £5.35 ? that gets you up to 10 kg ! and quite a big parcel too - I'm using that more for stuff too big - but I put it in my descriptions because I don't want marking down on delivery or poor feedback and I think it's fine if they know about it but not if they're expecting it "Door to door"

You do need a half decent printer to use this service though to print the label and the bar code - but it is easy and the shops are open "all hours" - the punter gets an email or text when it arrives and you get tracking and PoD :D:D

Can I please just express caution about using a non door to door service, you will only get paypal seller protection if the buyer checks out via paypal and puts the collect plus shop address as the delivery address. Paypal are quite clear about seller protection, for an INR claim item must track to the address given by paypal as being 'ok to send to'. For a claim for fraudulent use of a card then POP is needed, but again clearly showing the paypal address. Obviously if you manage to get to the buyers t get them to change their address before they pay then that's fine.

Also, watch the RM size restrictions on the £2.80 small parcel rate.

There is a sticky postage thread on the ebay board that explains about paypal seller protection.

  • Ok sold a game for £4.99 + £4.99 p&p - so £9.98 - now Paypal take 54 p and ebay take 1.00 So I take it down the GPO and he says - That's too heavy for a small parcel - its a medium - so £15 odd for 2nd class ! So in the end I used collectplus at a cost of £6.29

All of this means that the Punter paid £9.98 and I get £2.15 ! SUMMAT Wrong there I think ! :(

Just £6.95 to add for now - but two big postages mean I have to give back £5.90 of what I've already claimed ! :rotfl:

SO seven steps forward and six back - as it were !

I claim ias soon as the money is in Patpal, or when they collect whichever it is - but I'm still really annoyed that he paid a tenner but I only got two quid for doing all the wrapping and running about and for owning the kit in the first place. the GPO £15 for "Medium parcels" is just stoopid ! and just to add insult to injury ebay charge their "pound of flesh" money on the postage as well ! - as do Paypal - but somehow I'm not as annoyed with them as I am with ebay. _-I think it's ebay's dictatorial attitude that really irks !
