Abandoned Vehicle on my Drive!
Comments
-
Put an advert in the "Polish" supplement of your local newspaper saying: "Free VW Polo - collection required"
I guarantee it will be gone within hours of publication. :rotfl:0 -
Is there a tax disc holder?
Often these are for the insurance company that the car is supplied by
If it does phone the insurance company and tell them the car is abandoned in your drive and your concerned it has been stolen without the owners knowledge
Can they have it stored safely
Not sure if they would or not
Out of interest why would someone park in your drive?
are you near an airport, train station or the likes?
Also I dont condone criminal damage but a bit of retirbution at night when its dark with no witnesses would be entirely just
Whilst it might be obvious who did it, let the police prove it:D0 -

Called the council, who told me, as it’s taxed and on private land they can’t do anything and I should contact the police. So I went along to my local police station who told me the exact same thing and I should go back to the council!!!
What can I do? (Legally)
Many Thanks
Rubbish ! Your local council hos powers to remove abandoned vehicles on both private and public land. If its on private land they should serve a 15 day notice of removal on the registered keeper. The police will only intervene if it is causing a breach of traffic regulations on a public highway.
The DVLA will also give the registered owners details if you can show reasonable cause and having it dumped on your drive would seem to be covered by that if your council still refuse to do their duty"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

you could jack it up and put the wheels on anything that will roll like skateboards etc.
I've got images of someone pushing a car down the road on 4 skateboards now..... LMAO
Weight of car vs flimsy skateboards.... hmmm :rotfl:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

A car was parked in my space for a few days in the car park for the flats I used to live in, none of the neighbours knew whose it was when I asked around and I thought it was weird, but after a week of not moving I followed this:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/HomeAndCommunity/WhereYouLive/NoiseNuisanceAndLitter/DG_4001703
and reported it as abandoned.
The council came and put a notice on it the next day and contacted the owners to let them know it will be removed, and within a few days it had disappeared.
That site does say "The responsibility for the removal of abandoned vehicles, whether on private land or the public highway, lies with the local council" so they WILL be able to help you.
Until the one in your drive moves though, I'd park behind it to cause them inconvenience if they turn up to remove it.0 -
I have heard of this before and heard the horror story that you can't actually do a dam thing about it. There may also be a technicality that if they are stopping you getting out it can be removed but if its stopping you getting in its not an offence, sure I heard this on a programme or something.
Very interested to find out how this finshes! - Good luck.Sometimes you get what you deserve... :cool2:0 -
Write a letter to the owner with a time-limit for removing it (I would say 24 hours after they could be deemed to have received the letter). Take it to the police station, with an envelope and stamp, and ask them to add the address and post it for you.Addicted to Facebook0

you woud be surprised.ive used a skateboard to move a car engine before.
so weight of a car divided over 4
you only need to get it to the road then it becomes the police and councils problem0 -
If you can't get the council or police to do anything, move it to the road (get some strong people to give you a hand lifting it) - hopefully you have some double yellows nearby;)0
