Abandoned Vehicle on my Drive!
Comments

I'd agree with badger lady - unless you have a sign saying illegally parked vehicles will be clamped or towed there's probably nothing you can do if the police don't want to get involved.0

surely we have a law against trespass in the uk?
even if it doesnt apply to cars, the owner must have trespassed on your land in order to park it in the first place.0 -
I think, except for certain specific cases, tresspass is a civil matter. Thus the police don't want to get involved.
You can recover any losses incurred as a result of the tresspass but I don't think there's any other right to compensation.
You may be liable for any damage caused to the vehicle.
Presuming there is a dropped kerb to your driveway, then it is probably an offence to park your car on the road so that it blocks your driveway.0 -

Called the council, who told me, as it’s taxed and on private land they can’t do anything and I should contact the police. So I went along to my local police station who told me the exact same thing and I should go back to the council!!!
What can I do? (Legally)
Many Thanks
photograph it and put it on ebay!or somehow tow it onto the road out of your way

At the very least I'd block the car in, and maybe smash the passenger window to see if there's any owner information in the car. It's on your property, so surely you can do what you like with it?! Maybe respray it pink?? At least let the tyres down so the owner can't escape in a hurry!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
if it was me i would look at ways of getting on the public highway.
now you do not want to damage the car as you will end up paying!!
so is the handbrake on?is it in gear?
you could jack it up and put the wheels on anything that will roll like skateboards etc.
if your happy to pay some money then car transport companys could collect it and move it to a location.
if you have someone local(see ebay) it could be as little as £20,i paid £40 to get my car transported about 8 miles0 -
Better idea.
Phone up the Police and tell them the car is speeding. They will be out in no time.0 -
If it is practical to do so, block it in then wait and see if the owner comes and asks if he can move his car. Then give him a lecture how your drive is not a public car park. If nobody comes back in a few day, like a few others have mentioned try and contact the DVLA or get it towed. Or both... find the owner and tow it away. Charge them the fee plus admin.0

Put breadcrumbs on the roof, and it'll be covered in bird muck in no time !!!
Won't solve your abandoned vehicle problem, but you will feel a whole lot better !! And you won't have engaged in criminal damage
