I haven't revisited since Smart took over, but the signage does not seem to have improved much. Now there are at least 'entrance' signs, but for some reason they have chosen not to put them near the entrance. And the entrapment zone where you parked to surf does not appear to have any signs - just like in PE days. It is well known that holidaymakers park up there at night and watch the surf, without realising a fee is due.
I did spot a few other signs in passing, but they were hardly what I would call highly visibleHi, we’ve approved your signature. It's awesome. Please email the forum team if you want more praise - MSE ForumTeam0 -
It's actually free to park now after 6.30pm.
It's likely linked to the fact Rick Stein opened a chippy there.
The biggest bone of contention is that the 20 minute grace period has been reduced to 10 minutes, resulting in increased revenue for SMART, increased misery for motorists, and increased complaints to Briant.
Interestingly, the tariff changes to winter rates today, last year you were allowed the first hour free.
A dude pointed this out to the staff today, as the signs were unchanged. The staff went out to amend the sign with gaffa tape !!
It must be a Fistral thing :-) (Don't mention the word "Penalty....")Illegitimi non carborundum:)0 -

Hi guys, thought I'd post these for the record.
Fistral Beach Car Park, usually operates two different tariffs, one for summer (up until 31/10/15) and one for Winter (1/11/15 onwards.)
There seems to be a difference as to what's displayed on the tarriff boards, and what's displayed on the pay and display machines.
A local pointed this out, to what she described as "a very rude lady in the surf shop" on the 1/11/15 who proceeded to cover stuff up on the machines with gaffer tape. Apparently, there has been some other "cover up" with tipex (literally.)
Of course, there is more than one machine at Fistral, and it would seem that not all machines have suffered the gaffa tape/tipex treatment.
This was taken at 9:25am 4/11/15. Hope it helps...

They can't even spell Tariff correctly on the ticket machine. Hopeless.0

I've arrived home today to a smart parking invoice... In the loosest of terms. We stayed in Cornwall last week on 10/11 we drove to fistral. To check out the restaurants there with dog in car. We were there 25 mins apparently didn't pay the ticket as firstly thought free for one hour (as stated on Rick Stiens website) we didn't actually park. Hubby stayed in car why I checked out the restaurants.
I am still unclear what is the free period is currently? Do we stand any chance of dispute?0
