Hate as I do to give these my money, there were extenuating circumstances today.

I guess I should make some use out of it. I know holiday makers sometimes get a bit confused as to where they parked once home, so I've tried to explain the geography here.... hope it helps someone :-)

This is another video, showing the difficulty exiting the car park. Fairly late on in the evening, a lot worse at peak times

Should be a sticky as there are so many at this site. Nice spot on the pedestrians.

Well done. I liked the fact that you were able to park in pole position as near to the beach as possible after negotiating round all the pedestrians & driving past all the other parked cars.

The video is very nice quality were you using a dashcam? If so which brand?
  • Seeing how big the car park is and that it would be difficult to find parking at the height of the season, how would you be able to get in, search for a place, not find one and get out of the car park without getting a PE invoice from cameras?

  • Thanks Chaps, as I said, this is October (albeit half term).

I'll try and get some summer footage, problem is, you are at risk of getting a sting for circling. (Perhaps I'll try it with a shopping trolley !!).

In the height of summer, I've seen people queue for an hour to park. There's all sorts of other obstructions to, tut tut service, service vehicles, exhibition tents etc etc.

The camera is a cheapo off amazone ("E-prance"), it was about 30 odd quid, the mountings a bit flimsy but works a treat. With a 32 gb sd card, it saves about the last 5 hours of video.

It does have sound, but I've taken that off, as I tend to use a lot of profanities when I drive down these roads !!

By the way, the surf was AWESOME :-)

Excellent footage Ivor and gives us some context now - for those of us who've not been to Newquay lately.

I've bookmarked this thread to refer any POPLA appellant to, should they want to place a link to the footage in their appeal if it helps their case.

    Great work.

Ivor, could you possibly check and tell me if the ParkingEye tariffs have changed for the Winter at Tower Road?

Do any of these car parks change over the winter (I have a feeling the tariffs differ from the Summer or was that just at Fistral when PE infested it along with the snakes?).

I have a sign picture from August which says the PE tariff for 3 hours at Tower Rd is a fiver but am helping someone who parked there in the second week of September and paid £5.50 which they think covered them for 5 hours.

Are they right as per the current sign?

This could be the 'Newquay signs thread'. Nice video; we don't surf but loved Fistral when I was there in 2014 again. We parked where you did!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi Coupon Mad, I know for certain the old Fistral Beach PE Tarriff changed in "Winter" time, it was an argument we used, (and lost) in our case.

I'm not sure if the other car parks change in winter (it's likely they do.)

I'm pretty sure though, that we are in summer mode at present (this is Cornwall after all-I've got next years Daffs springing up!)

I could put a request on the local fb page if that would help, let me know (probably best by PM)

    cheers,
    Ivor

Thanks Ivor. I rarely use pm on here any more and only allow certain names to pm me (too busy otherwise) so I'll add you in case you can show me anything useful. Thanks again!

Re Tower Rd, I have two people who got PCNs in mid Sept who are adamant the signs no longer say '£5 for 3 hours' (Summer sign that I showed them).

  • Hi CM, no worries, I know we are in touch happy for you to post it all on here to help spread the word, I sometimes miss things if I've not been on here for a while :-)

  • Just to confirm:

Is it definitely the Tower Road "Cafe" car park (not the Holy Trinity Church, or Newquay Golf Club- both of which are on Tower Road?)

Is the question about the regime change centred on 1/9/15?

Do you need the current tariff boards photographing ?

I'll get the dudes on the job. Parking Eye are destroying Newquay, so lot's of people will go out of their way to help :-)
