can anyone recommend a good service for callback features - unfortunately I cant use skype to call my 90 year old gramps LOL just looking for a cheap way to callback to the uk when I dont have access to wifi and also one where you dont lose your credit after so many months?0

I did look into that but it seems they are very strict in turkey and the sim is only valid for 12 months0

has anyone used mo-call as they seem rather cheap for using callback from a landline? approx 3p a min from turkey back home0

Hi,
Im looking for a bit of advice.
Im going to america for 7 weeks, spending 5 weeks in the East coast and 2 in the west.
Im looking to find a cheap sim card to put in my phone to call in the US but also a phone card to be able to call back to the UK which isnt too expensive.
Also how would a web cam come into play?
Im sure these are really basic questions but I am hopeless with them:p0 -
This question and similar has been answered in this thread so many times. Bottom line...get to the US, get s tmobile or AT&T sim and put it in your phone and follow activation instructions. You can also get them on ebay if you want.Hi,

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help offer some advice and opinion?
I am going travelling at the end of May, starting with a road trip across the USA for 6 weeks and I fairly recently upgraded to an HTC Hero Android phone fitted with GPS web access etc. Bully for me I hear you think!
In theory, the phone is capable of being my sat nav, my GPS photo logger, my internet browser and may even be able, perish the thought, to make calls without me having to remortgage my house to pay the bill when I get home!
I think, the best option, after reading lots of useful info on this site and beyond, is to:- Put my current Orange contract on hold for 6mths (i'm away for 7mths)
- Unlock HTC Hero
- Buy a US sim card (before or after arriving) that allows me to use the internet on a PAYG basis
- Use my phone as an occasional sat nav / gps logger / browser / phone (!)
- Possibly buy a phonecard to get best international calling rates
My question is mainly about the data requirements in USA - can anyone recommend a suitable supplier & sim deal that will mean I can use the web & gps without paying mental prices? Most suppliers seem to be charging a pence per kb rate which could easily become extortionate!
Should I buy before I go or buy a sim when I get there? Should I do something different or should I forget the whole thing as it will be too pricey?
The best deal I have found is via Truphone (local anywhere):
Pay 30 GBP for the sim with 10 GBP credit. Calls 10p/min (22p for mobiles), SMS 10p/send 7p/receive, data 75p per megabyte (Mb)
I cannot find anything else even close to this in terms of price with data which makes we wonder what the catch is! Or is it the deal of the century?! Does anyone have any experience of this offer or any others that might be a good option?
Thanks

I have had my phone unlocked by O2 so now when I go overseas I can get a SIM in the country I go to. I do this each time I go to Australia and found Three do a good deal. Unlocking is simple either call O2 or it is in the support section of their website.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. :eek:Firstly, I confess I am a bit of a ludite and only use a mobile as an emergency resource. But, we are likely to travel to Morocco for regular holidays, and will want to keep in touch with UK - either by text, phone or e/mail; I do not have a contract at present and want to buy a phone that wiill give best options. Ideally, I would like to have internet access, and play own music also, but prioprity will be to be able to contact UK at cheapest rates etc. Can anyone suggest best way to go forward please?? Thanks. Colin.
Just returned to the site but cannot see any replies.............is there anyone out there who can advise please? Or am I doing it all wrong!0 -
Best way forward is getting a local sim card once in Egypt, especially if you will be going regular, do a search for Egypt mobile firms, vodafone have an operation in Egypt.0
