Hi all!
Does anyone know the best provider for calling/texting the UK from Australia? I'm currently on contract with orange, but it costs about 85p per minute to call the UK and 40p for a text message to the UK. Any ideas on what would be better?
Thanks!0 -

no cheap roaming there, so get a local SIM card (use an unlocked phone) , and they have a choice of international dialling prefixes such 001, 008 which preselect a choice of cheap international call providers, paid from your SIM credit
to compare networks, see http://www.prepaidgsm.net/en/thailand.html
you can click on the logos there to go to the network's own site, and ome have a button for English0 -
Hi,
I have read the article but have fallen into the trap already. My husband and I each have an iPhone, we have just got back from USA - we have just looked at my husbands bill online and it is for £1627!!!!!! OMG!!!! He thinks he downloaded an album - it just didn't register with him that it would be expensive - each track shows as 20,000 kb and the charge is £149.99 per track for 10 tracks!!! We cannot believe it, it was a genuine mistake and now we feel we are being exploited by T-Mobile for such a high charge - surely this is immoral and unethical - he called up before we went away and asked for a £100 limit - nothing to tell us we had gone over it - surely there should be a alert to say 'are you really sure you want to do this' when you go ahead with something that is so expensive - sorry for the rant but I am in shock - Is there anything we can do? Has anyone successfully dealt with anything similar? T Mobile can have staff 'sell' their customer personal data - breaching the data protection law but only get a rap on the nuckles and yet they can charge the average person this extortionate amount of money - Please help!!0 -
Wow! Huge mistake. You roamed with your Iphone, especially in the US. All you had to do was turn off the data option on the iphone and use WiFi. There is free WiFi in abundance all over the place in the US. My suggestion is to talk to someone high up at tmobile, and see if they can work out something with you.TaniaStone wrote: »Hi,

I'm going travelling for three months in May and my friend told me that there's this SIM that you can take with you so you get charged local rates instead of buying different SIM cards in each country - is this the sim4Ttavel SIM card or is there another option that I am confusing myself with?!
I'm going Thailand, Singapore, Bali, Aus, NZ, Fiji and LA if that helps!
Thanks, I really appreciate any advice I'm on a bit of a budget!0 -
I have an iphone (unlocked) on Orange and am shortly going to the US for travel. I know having been to Italy recently that the roaming charges were pretty steep (approx £3 per MB) and even with limited roaming use I ended up using about 15MB
I would like to be better prepared for the USA trip as I know the roaming charges in America are more (£8 per MB) so I would rather not use my own SIM.
What are the cheapest options for data roaming over there?0 -
Hi
I am a business user on an O2 package.
I will be travelling to Australia next month, and then West Coast USA in May.
What is the easiest, and most cost effective way to get calls to and from my mobile.
Not necessarily looking for the cheapest.
Would I be better just buying a local SIM
Thanks in advance
