  • Managed to come in under budget this week again :D . I'm sure I'm going to mess up soon  .Maybe it's because myself and DH actually think about what we will need for the week and have stopped going out shopping individually.

Menus are more or less planned for the week and now we only buy what we will eat (have managed to stop chucking out loads too! :j )

I think DH is secretly enjoying the GC ;) . Oh yes, and the homemade cakes!

Here's a bit more in the tin ready for the new house!

Well I've gone over budget yet again.......£81.26

Nipped to somerfield this morn and got milk etc.... so I don't need anything else at all for the weekend, therefore have already updated sig.

I will try harder for next week, I Promise.....

  • One more week to go! Can't believe that we have stuck to the budget again this week - and the total spend of £47.42 includes £5 wedding present contribution for someone at work. I will definitely be doing this again next month, I can't believe what a difference it makes to my motivation!!

My OH has been away most of this week, so I have been able to stick to simpler meals, and I have mostly eaten with the children.

Good luck to everyone on the final stretch...

Another £13 in Tesco, my partner is in shock I think as I usually spend over £50 every time I go! Just over a week to go and over half my budget left :j hopefully we'll not need much next week, mainly fresh stuff like fruit, veg, milk etc.

Might have a go at the hobnobs myself, I think I have those ingredients in but will check, syrup is the only bit I am unsure of, wonder if I can use half ready brek and half oats as DS2 has stopped eating them for breakfast.
One day I might be more organised...........
    GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I haven't updated my sig since the start of the month but I've been sticking to my budget. I did a big shop at the start and divided what was left between the 4 weeks and taken only cash with me when I've been shopping. I think I've sussed the way forward for me!

Did a weekly shop last night and I've got £8 left until Friday. Can't think that I'll need anything before then except maybe cat food. I could be good and knock it off next months challenge but most likely it'll go on something I wouldn't normally buy. Ooh, the possibilities are endless :rotfl:

Hope evryone's doing good, I haven't read through the thread for a while. I'll check in again on Friday and declare my budget for the October challenge.

  • Hello all,

    I don't think I'm going to manage this - I'm already at £186.01

I could do with going and buying all the ingredients to make mincemeat, but maybe I should leave it till next month

Next month, I am going to take cash out and thats it.

  • iam at £257 so far, but £90 was a wine club order does that count?
  • At the beginning of this challenge I said these immortal words 'My month started on 22nd and I'm pretty much stocked up already....' angry-smiley-030.gif

Ha ha - I've run away with money this month...BUT I've stayed in budget and spent £114.73 so far. My October month wioll start on Tuesday and I can't see myself spending £35 between now and then so I'll call this month a success (even if I did wanna spend less!!)

    Hi

I have decided to up the budget for next month, although will actually increase it for next week too. This is due to me actually sitting down and working out how much the pet food is actually costing instead of buying it on the fly. Also I probably did set it a bit low for first month......

So for Oct I will budget £100 for the first week and £90 for each subsequent week. Although I'm hoping to reduce this back to £80 (or less) by the new year.

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing, well done those who are on budget :T and commiserations to those who are over, but dont give up :j

    I didnt join in this month as not been well; I havent actually spent much on food as I havent eaten much and didnt shop much at all for the last 2 weeks;

I'm now without a car so I need to change my shopping strategy. I'm planning a tesco delivery beginning each month and then will just pick up fresh stuff as I need it from the local market town - this means a bus trip weekly though, so I'm more determined than ever to get my storecupboard full for winter!

    See you in October!

runs off to add long life milk to the tesco list ...
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D
