Blimey, that's a lotta bottle. Tesco's milk is 65p a litre, so say £20 was on milk, that's around 31Lts. Maybe you'ld be better off getting a cow :D.

lol i did buy 22 litres actually some for the fridge and some for the freezer so that it lasts me a bit longer, but it was £1.34 for 4 litres

Do other people with pets budget weekly for their pet food or monthly? I'm just trying to get a feel for which works best.

Yes my rabbits, turtles and cat food all goes in my normal shopping bill

:j Still not been shopping since I last posted which I am pleased with as I would normally go 3 times a week ish, haven't spent a penny more on shopping (yes ours inc animal stuff too) only 11 days left to go :o admittedly it's because my stock piles were so high I have managed it.

Friday I have set out to go and get animals stuff plus shopping FROM A LIST! I will do a meal plan first working in whatever we have left over. I do start getting twitchy now as my freezer is running much lower than normal so I've packed it out with bread to make me feel better...sort of working...tins cupboard still very full so will see what we have in there aswell. It's quite a challenge having to be much more imaginative with food to make a meal from just what we have in. I have a small problem however of I need to dig out what frozen veg I can find, out of fresh for tomorrow!
One day I might be more organised...........

Yes I've been have trouble. Cannot load my favourites from the Tesco site. I've emailed MySupermarket but they haven't bothered to reply. Should we get on to Ipoints and complain??

I should have posted before, but I did get an email from MySupermarket on Monday 17th, apologising for the problem. They said "Over the weekend, Sainsbury's had a major upgrade which involved their site
being down for a couple of days. Since then, our technical team has been
working day and night to ensure that mySupermarket continues to work
smoothly with the upgraded Sainsbury's site."

This would explain my difficulty, though I don't know why this would affect your Tesco trolley. I haven't tried again as I went direct to Sainsbury late on Sunday and that worked ok. I will give them another chance next week or the week after. Really I prefer to shop in person if I can as I like to choose my fruit and veg myself. I think I am going to work out how much I use in a month of the heavy bulky stuff and use MySupermarket for that but do the fresh food shopping in person.

I am afraid I succumbed to a biscuit bar from the work's canteen today which cost 60p! My excuse was that I was going swimming after work and would have to wait till late for my dinner(which I did). However, on the credit side I made a 1.5 kg chicken last two of us for four days - and I put two spare individual chicken and mushroom pies in the freezer and had a round of sandwiches for work out of it. Now I am sick of chicken!

Have updated my signature and have £63.34 to pay for tomorrow's supermarket shop and for any other bits and pieces till Thursday 28th. Mmm, might be a close run thing!

  • It's my first month doing the challenge so still finding out works best for us at the moment. We've decide to have a separate budget for the dogs each month and it seems to be working well. We did manage to clear Pets at Home of 31 tins of Winalot the other week. It's was down to 25p a tin! And it was new packaging! Someone mistake is my gain :T . Have been back several times but the shelf hasn't been restocked since  . We plan to use any money left on the extra expense of Frontline (or very ocassional kenneling) in the the future.

Yes it is my first month on the challenge too, also only had kittens for roughly 2mths and rabbits for a month so still tryin to get into some kind of pattern and portion size with their feeding. I'm sure I will get there in the end. I will sit down and work out how much pet food/bedding etc, costs per month and go from there......

  • Hi everyone

My grocery challenge seems to be somewhat of a real challenge this month lol. I decided to only allocate £30 this month instead of the normal £40 and funny enough, I've spent £40.68 so far! I won't need to buy anything else this momth as I get paid on the 25th and went to do my last shop today.

I was really annoyed as I went to tesco brent x and it was empty and out of the 4 things I wanted to buy they did not have one item I wanted, so got annoyed and swore to never shop in tesco again, this is not the first time I have had this problem, and the tesco in brent x is massive, but is dirty and empty alot of the time now. I then went to sainsbury's and discovered that everything was just so overpriced now, even the bread's gone up to 32p from 28p, eggs gone up from £1 to £1.19 so decided to give up and went to Iceland instead. I got 4litres of longlife skimmed milk for £1.50, which works out to £0.37.5 per litre and 15 large eggs for £1, so was well pleased. Just fed up with being ripped off by big supermarkets, so from now on will go to Iceland or LIDL for shopping as they really are cheaper for alot of stuff. I now resent having to spend extra money in the supermarkets. It's so funny because looking at the stuff I used to buy makes me realise how I used to waste money unnecessarily.

Anyway didn't mean to write an essay lol. Hope you're all well and enjoying the challenge.

    Cheers

  • my spending diary show a spend of £130.25 for this month and with one week to go I am well in budget. I expect to spend £10 over next week so original budget of £200 down to to £160 and this month hopefully spend no more than £145. I keep a careful eye on personal spending as well and so far am well within my budget for this month.:T

    Hiya lovelies!

I've got 5 days to go until we get paid again and I'm doing ok.

I'm going to try and skate through until payday on what I've got as far as poss, but I'm going to need some veg, milk and bread at some point I think.

I'm amazed at how well we've done, and I'm blimmin' astonished that the kids have just accepted that we don't buy ready meals and takeaway any more - end of.
Who knew it was going to be that easy???

We can definitely do better though.

    Love Jacks xxx :D

Jacks it's been the same here, I told my partner look if we use what is in, reduce the spending and just get on with it we'll have enough for the removals costs rather than dipping in to Xmas savings, he's been much better! I'm still in a bit of shock. Kids have been the trickiest but haven't gave in yet. Hope your success so far continues :) I think on that thought I will go and see what is still left in and see what inventive meal plan I can come up with for next week, then make a small as possible shopping list!
